Ive mentioned this subject several times but I’ll remind everyone that while history is not always an indicator of the present - the Jets and Giants have played 14 regular season games and every single one of them was a regular Sunday 1:00 game. The only exception would be the Christmas Eve game in 2011 which was played on a Saturday only because the rest of the league also played Saturday. Sure there were years when both teams weren’t so good but there were other years when they both were very good for instance going into that 2011 season. Why did the NFL choose Dallas as the Jets opponent for the 10th 9/11 anniversary instead of the Giants? We weren’t given an explanation but I remember reading a long time ago that the NFL would never schedule that matchup for a primetime night game it would make the NYC area go a little too crazy, there would be too many fights and side shows going on. I read that about 20 years ago or so. Maybe times have changed. But an opening day primetime matchup on 9/11 ….. while it looks good on paper maybe be a little too much storyline for the NFL. But we’ll see….
This is correct. Not sure where I heard it but night game means more drunk fans on both sides and multiple fights at the stands. NFL likes to play it safe with Jets and Giants. Always a 1 PM game.
There have been preseason games between the teams where they have either played Thurs, Friday, or Saturday night. Even though its preseason the game usually has a pretty good crowd.
Yeah true. But pre season is for families mostly. Summer time, lots of kids running around the parking lot. It is leas likely for a fight. Regular season games are a different animal though.
another reason to be annoyed at the rogers trade, night games. i f'n hate night games (and the history we have playing in them)
I like that 3 of our toughest games are at home...Eagles, Bolts, KC. While bottom feeders like the Giants, Broncos, Raiders are away games. But just looking at our schedule, thank God we have Rodgers under center....we'll have a good shot at all our games, home or away. Seems our final record will depend on how healthy our team stays. 14-3 is not out of the question if healthy, 9-8 is probably our record if key players like Becton, Garrett, Sauce, Breece, or a few others goes down.
I would add the Bills and Dolphins to your list of toughest games. It's going to be a 3-way fight for the AFCE.
I realize that and almost added them...but those are division games, one home, one away, so I left them out. But ya, beating buffalo last year was our superbowl. And beating GB was a fantastic feeling as well, especially the way Sauce punctuated the win. Having Rodgers along with a top 5 Defense and stars on offense in Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall give us real hope this season. It's almost more of a 'belief' than just 'hope'. We have reason to believe!
I don't know about Hall. Barkley had the same injury, and it took him a couple of seasons to regain his old form which he did last year. Hall might not be the RB we saw before he got hurt until 2024,2025??? I hope he can regain his form this year but that isn't an easy injury to come back from.
Wow just those games alone could produce some big 3/4 wins to prove Jets and AR can compete with top teams or lose 5/6 games and put the Jet fans in a yet another miserable season. Looking forward to it. I don’t care for Thanksgiving games and don’t want to see another butt fumble highlight
Calling it now, if the Jets beat the Eagles for the first time ever...they are going to the Superbowl.
We'll bet 4 ... 2 road and 2 home games I know technically Thanksgiving doesn't count as a PT game so I while I do think we'll play Dallas on TG I don't include that in my 4 At home Kansas City (can't ignore that Mahomes vs Rodgers headline plus 2 potential contenders in the AFC) Buffalo (late in the season so if both or one of the teams fail to live up to expectations they can flex the game) On the road Vegas Monday night (League can't wait to put Rodger's 1st game in Vegas on MNF) Pats ... why not ?
Yeah.... I was really looking forward to watching Zach Wilson running around like a wild chicken at 1pm!
