its interesting, because for sure, it’s hard to evaluate the quality of a WR when you have shit at QB…

Which in turn makes Garrett Wilson’s season all the more astonishing in that he was able to achieve quite a lot with shitty QB play…just goes to show that GREAT doesn’t usually take too long to show it, and GREAT can overcome shit around him.

That’s why great QBs elevate everyone around them.

And it shows that it's easier to become GREAT at other positions sooner aside from QB.

This thread will eventually be merged with the main Rodgers thread.

How do you like Joe Douglas in this particular instance?

This has gone on for so long I feel like I’ve been in a darkness retreat. When the details finally emerge, I can have a better handle on it.

As Papapump said, there's been so little factual information put out about how Douglas is negotiating that it's impossible to say whether he's doing a good job or not. But given that Rodgers is still a strong possibility for us at this point, I'll give a tentative "thumbs up".

This is a silly question until we know the end result....

I think JD made a mistake stating that he and the Jets were NOT looking into Lamar and that it would disingenuous….

why state it at all? Gives him the lower hand…

It does sound a bit high. As good as Rodgers is, he is coming off a down year, and is grossly overpaid with 60 mil cash due in a few months. If I am a GB fan, and I am getting #43 this year, and also 1st or 2nd next year, I am very happy. If JD is willing to include #43, might as well wait until the draft, when GB has no choice but to take it. Maybe throw in some change on the draft night to move across the finish line, but 2nd or 1st next year is more than just change.

Which is why I suspect there is no deal yet. This was probably leaked out by GB again, just like the BS that they are not moving AR until they get #13. If there is #43 in this deal, I just have a hard time seeing a lot more than that.

Basically, what you are saying is a Favre pick plus #43 this year. This is not unreasonable, though a little high. I do like the idea of getting 2025 pick back. Say if we win a SB and give them 2024 1st #32 overall, Rodgers retires on top, and they give us 2025 1st, which turns out to be top overall, and we draft Arch Manning. :)

Why would we offer more on draft night?… that’s when there’s a huge power shift. After the draft, we’re talking a 2024 1st and a 2025 conditional.

I just feel like they have no choice. They are committed to Love, they don't want to pay 110 mil. There are no takers. Imagine Rodgers showing up in the camp. Come draft night they will take #43. I don't see a need to offer them another 2nd or 1st next year now. I don't think JD made that offer, which is why the deal is not done yet.

The Packers might wait until June 1 so they can spread their salary cap hit over two seasons. Or they might do it before if they just want to get the $40 mil cap hit over with. If they don't trade by the time OTA's start April 17th, they probably won't do it till June.

    I misunderstood your original post.

So you think the offer is less and the Packers leaked the offer?

It’s the first reported offer I’ve heard; I’ve heard a lot of speculation but no reports.

I think a 2nd rounder this year Is still too much for a 39/40 year old QB, coming off a down year, with 90% of his desires leaning towards retirement just 3 weeks ago.

This whole thing Is so frustrating as a fan. I hate It.

It better not be a shit load of compensation.

I don't really understand why this even matters anymore. Majority of the high priced FAs are gone, why would they want a $24m cap hit in 2024 when they are probably not going to be that great this year? If I was them, I would just want to take it all upfront this year, suffer for a little, and shoot for 2024 to be our big rebound year after Loves first time at helm. Maybe someone else can explain why, but it doesn't seem like a major point IMO.

On draft night the Jets at 13 will select someone random like a defensive back. We will be like “what?” And he will awkwardly put on the Jets hat on the podium

then it will be announced later that night that he’s headed to Green Bay for Rodgers

    Just a prediction
