They only owe him $110M guaranteed but yeah they really should facilitate the trade. They set the whole scenario up and invited the Jets to deal and now if they are high-balling maybe the Jets should just walk away from the table and leave them stewing on our last offer. That's the June 1st path to Aaron Rodgers.
I don't know about y'all... but I'm stoked for this upcoming season. It could all go to shit... just like lots & lots of Jets seasons...
Yeah Brad Aaron did nothing wrong since last Friday. Today is Wednesday. 5 full days passed, Packers chose to stay quiet while he was being portrayed as Undecisive Problem child by Schefter and Rappaport. The guy has been saint about this process.
He had every opportunity to dispel any rumors, including to Shefter, and he didn't. He kept everyone in the dark on purpose. His only statement being a nonsense tweet. Never even told his GM. Says he wanted to play with the Jets when he clearly wanted to return to the Packers. Says the player list was him just talking about players he liked playing with, then when OBJ is brought up he says, "well who doesn't want OBJ". There is clearly some blame to be spread around with all parties. But Rodgers isn't going to be accountable for any of it. Its all about his image.
If there are posters that don't believe there are a sect of fans that just want to revel is misery, this is your proof. I feel bad for the site owner knowing that there are people here that will do anything they can to keep things negative. We haven't had a decent QB in two decades but yeah. This is a bad thing.
I think the NYJ are actually in the better negotiating position regarding compensation--if packers keep him (they won't) there'd be crazy hell to pay, bad vibes, just awful situation in Wisconsin. Hope we hold tight to relatively low compensation--no more than a single 2nd at best--probably can get him for significantly less if they're patient.
Both teams are desperate. The Packers are desperate to trade him away and the Jets are desperate to trade for him. It's a negotiation game.
this^ the packers have been known to be one of the more "classy" franchises and you see what the colts did with peyton when they were done with him, and what they did with luck when he retired, and what the raiders did with carr. packers should do right by rodgers at this point and be happy to get anything decent in return for a player turning 40 during the season coming off his worst year who they don't want
Dude your man crush has been showing all week. We get it. Rodgers is your God and not loving everything about him is blasphemy. Were fine with getting Rodgers. I just care about throwing TDs and not his stupid interviews where he is always the saint.
Its okay to be realistic about the situation. Theres an upside and a downside. When Rodgers throws TDs Bickety will be the loudest fan. When the Rodgers circus starts it will be, "wheres Bickety"?
They made that same joke when I criticized the Zach pick. Come opening day I'll be the sunnysider I always am at the beginning of a season.
The Jets have known since last Friday. They were under no obligation to let anyone know. If Rodgers wanted to keep it quiet he had the right. The NFL media need a story to keep their jobs. If there is no news they make it up. That goes for talk show hosts as well. I think some on this board typed some really silly stuff.
OK.. but he's still a Packer. What he wants hasn't happened yet and until it does, IF it does, then we get to yell "yippie"
I'm going to enjoy the actual football part of all of this a lot. But the rest is next level. I really can't even tell if Rodgers or Favre loves himself more. Rodgers spent a full 5 minutes justifying the gall that the GB front office had to draft a replacement for him, he spent a long time explaining that the people that loved him were out of the building and replaced by a bunch of different people who didn't know him or love him. The level of self-love from this guy is EPIC. Off the charts. I may enjoy the drama even more than the football.
