JD has been following a script from day one. Step 1 she’d dead weight. Despite the boards protest he didn’t re-sign Robbie. He then traded our best player for future picks. Step 1a Add serviceable fillers and practice squad gems. Step 2 Draft foundational pieces. JD stuck by his mantra of building Thru the trenches drafting a lineman in the 1st every year while also using high picks for positions which demand the highest salary. Step 3 ???? IMO we’re at the finishing touches phase and step 3 is going to be “big moves”. I don’t think we end with AR. OBJ is definitely in play Trade a 2024 1st to the Rams for AD Pick 45 for Ramsey. maybe he’s ready to transition to S Bring over Bakhtiari… maybe he and Brown alternate weeks so they stay healthy. Who knows what dominoes fall… AR->DB->OBJ->JR->AD->Bobby Wagner? We have a 4 year window before we have to pay our future stars and with the cap set to explode next year, there’s no reason we can’t sign some big name vets for a 2/3 year push It’s time for the finishing touches
Where does the money come from to pay guys like that AFTER getting Rodgers? Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see it but it seems impossible.
The salary cap is a myth *as mentioned in my essay the cap is exploding next year so we could easily backload contracts and not get in a bind
I think we're getting a little delusional. You don't go to "finishing touches" stage after 1 good draft.
IF we do get Rodgers, that's a big selling point for potential FAs. You're probably targeting guys that are on the back 9 of their career, guys like @KingRoach pointed out in the OP, but they could potentially be willing to come cheaper too because they see Rodgers and what we already have and know it's a good shot to get a SB. Cart before the horse though because we need to get Rodgers first before any of this COULD become a reality.
*Didn't say they suck in my post in this thread (*Edited for clarity). Think we're building something but still too many holes to think we can sprinkle some free agents and call it good. We've been rebuilding for years don't get impatient now
Never say never in world where everything is recorded. https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/jets-suck-whos-your-team-for-the-rest-of-the-season.96686/ The thread is dated but nothing in your posts suggests your attitude towards the team has changed.
Fair enough. I typed a paragraph of words. Use all of them to assume what I mean not just the first four.
Salary Cap Is definitely real. I've lived through several times of this team alone being In salary cap hell. I don't get why people keep saying this. We wouldn't be restructuring contracts left and right If It wasn't real. It limits the moves we can and can't make. You can only find so many places to elevate cap space before your team Is In flux either now or later. I just don't buy Into this one.
Yeah, but honestly i don’t worry about the cap as much as I used to…there are many ways to deal with it in a world where the cap goes up each year…yes, you push money out to future years, but you have more room in those future years. not saying it’s not real, but for the most part, unless you’re doing stupid shit like the Browns guaranteeing $250M you can make it work
