Had just read more lately about using the June 1st designation for the trade but seems to always be more wrong information out there than correct information so I guess I might have been believing the wrong writers.I guess we will have to wait and see.
That might work for you or me but nothing Aaron Rodgers makes in the next year or two will make a difference in his life; he already has much more than he can spend. What working here would mean is that he has less freedom to do whatever it is he wants to do. He may decide now that does not include football. He could decide that the second day of training camp or the ninth week of the season. This time next year we could be having the same conversation. You see the money as something to bring him here, I see it as something to take him away.
He has the ability to make in the next 2 seasons just about what he’s made in his entire career. The only thing confident rich people want is to be confidently more rich. Trust me, he wants the money.
Trust you? Do you know Rodgers? Do you know any confident rich people? Do you know any indecisive rich people?
Getting back to thread topic: We busted on the TL opportunity ..winning a meaningless game Douglas proved he is no smarter than any poster on TGG going BUST on ZW pick (and I was over the top believing this was a homerun for us...at first!!) Then JD has the audacity and hubris to still believe in career back up Zach Wilson?? Really?? Can anyone in Jets Management make a decisive move?? Or a smart move??? If Wilson..Mr Privileged and unpopular QB ..stands in way of Superstar QB talent you MUST get rid of him This Franchise is beyond moronic
Carr was never a real consideration. Woody wanted Rodgers period end of story. Maybe the FO/CS wanted Carr, but in the end, Woody is king.
IDK, but I think Carr would've been happy to sign here but he wasn't going to kept dangling as the runner up in the Aaron Rodgers Sweepstakes.
It's anyone's guess but he did meet with them before he was even a FA. I think the only way he comes here is if we vastly overpaid for him.
I'm confident that if Rodgers comes here, he will be motivated to stick it to the Packers by doing well more than he is motivated by any paycheck.
What makes the most sense is that the Jets keep Zach Wilson because they won't get value for him and the optics of Aaron Rodgers, his idol, starting for 1-2 years in front of him salvages the bust look of ZW. From a practical standpoint I think Zach Wilson is quite possibly the worst QB the Jets have carried, maybe, since Hackenburg, and a complete irreversible bust based on what I've seen. My ideal scenario is unloading Wilson and signing back Mike White who has played fantastic football on occasion and has shown the most development out of any QB the Jets have had in the last 20 years outside Pennington. Playing poorly with half a functioning rib does not phase me, his tape, smart decisions, and tight window throws were incredibly intriguing and I thought he went to too many check downs early and picked it up in his 2nd halfs (something either called by LaFleur or fixable in how he approaches the first half). I don't think Mike White will cost tons of money and at the very least I think he has long term backup potential if not starting potential after Rodgers retires. However I am also practical and understand that JD will go purely for the optics of the Rodgers & Wilson QB room and make it seem like Wilson isn't the bust we know he is and can improve by watching Rodgers. It looks better for JD and it costs less, that's what JD is going to do. and I hate it, but that's the reality of it.
That sums up why the Jets stink. Let your talent evaluators handle the football side of things. Woody just needs to go to the owner's meetings and write checks. He couldn't be bothered when he ran off to England to play ambassador for 4 years.
