This means that every team has the ability to talk to Lamar and negotiate a contract with him. The Ravens then get the option to either match that deal, or get 2 1st round picks from the team.

Should the Jets be in on Lamar now?

I would say yes. It's only going to cost 2 1st's and his contract, which will undoubtedly be very large but he's a former MVP that's only 26 years old, going into the prime of his career.

I voted no only because the brass is already on the plane. If Rodgers falls through then absolutely but the pics and cash will be huge. I do like that we have options, after Carr signed we lost all our leverage till now.

I'd trade two 1sts for Lamar. No question.

What I would not do is give him a fully guaranteed contract

That's kinda the rub tho. It might not have to be fully guaranteed but I have to think 90%+ of the contract would have to be guaranteed somehow to get Lamar to agree and the Ravens to not match.

I don't want to pay him 60 mil per year but I can do 59.

Nope, he'll want a guaranteed DW type of contract and I'm not so sure he can stay healthy with his skill set.

I think you have to do it. Go big or go home.

Though I would offer this word of caution. The Ravens aren't dumb. They might know something about Jackson's body that we don't.

I respect the Ravens basically telling Lamar to go look for a fully guaranteed deal, we'll see you when every team is done laughing in your face.

    Fuck no.

The Ravens are baiting the rest of the league, they want compensation, they know he Is a product of the system, injury prone, and won't hold up. Cut bait now, while the price Is high.

I want absolutely nothing to do with Lamar Jackson as our QB. No thanks. Very hard pass.

Also, has anyone tried reading some of this kids tweets he's posted? He Is a very sensitive dude, no way he would handle It here.

Definitely need to pursue Jackson as an option, especially if Rodgers falls through. Assuming that a reasonable agreement can be reached for Jackson -- one that protects both sides and locks him up long-term -- then the cost of two firsts isn't that bad at all. That all assumes that features of the Rodgers agreement aren't extraordinarily favorable to the Jets. But either way, still have to do due diligence to see what Jackson wants.

If for whatever reason don't get Rodgers, I'd bet they'll immediately pivot to Lamar

If we don't get Rodgers I expect to track a plane flight to Baltimore.

The Ravens absolutely want to keep LJ, but they do not believe the market will bear what LJ thinks he’s worth. The market is about to give Jackson a rude awakening. He’s a franchise QB, but the league is not giving him a massive fully guaranteed contract.

Multiple people on this board has brought this exact scenario up over the last week including myself numerous times.

It sorta sucks that Woody and crew are balls deep with Rodgers and his bullshit. If that falls thru for any reason, we need to pivot and fly that plane to Baltimore yesterday.

To think JD could write the contract that the Ravens can't match and only give up 2 1's would be genius.

Here is the thing, doesn't JD have strong ties to Baltimore? Would he really screw the Ravens like that?
