I hate that we need this to happen. Damned if we do. Damned if we don’t. Either we’re the laughingstock because we fucked up the Carr situation and missed out on Rodgers or because we got Rodgers, didn’t win a title and are stuck with the ringleader of a 5 ring circus as he holds us hostage next offseason debating whether or not he wants to play.
FYI - Locked the other threads. This will be the new Rodgers thread. To answer your question, No Jets can't talk to Rodgers without Packers permission. So if indeed they spoke on Monday than a framework of a trade is agreed upon and all we are waiting for is to finalize the deal with Rodgers. To me this explains why Jets didn't proceed with an offer to Carr.
Boomer still adamant that the Jets will get Rodgers and will work out contract to make it more friendly for free agency.
All of these reports confirming the fact that we met with Rodgers yesterday and he still doesn’t even know if he wants to play let alone for the Jets makes yesterday’s Derek Carr botch even more frustrating. This confirms that we had absolutely no assurances from Rodgers before letting Carr walk. Fucking incompetence.

This reeks of some “cover your ass” PR move by the Jets. They looked like fucking idiots yesterday now they need to leak some thing to make it look like there’s a competent back up plan in place. I would fucking love if I these reports were true but as of right now I have no reason to believe the that resembles making sense.
