Yet in all of my web history I have managed to avoid making a thread or a post as DUMB as this thread here.
I, for one, have enjoyed reading this thread. I agree with the quoted poster. The refs actually did an excellent job and made the right call - that should be commended. I knew immediately what the situation was and was screaming for the Jets to jump on the ball. I also agree that the play is too risky and needs to be scrapped. I'm a Mangini guy but I actually am concerned that this was a coaching blunder. If you're going to use that play, you must drill into the players to fall on the ball if anything happens. Since the players all stood around looking stupid, I conclude that this did not occur in practice. That is a coaching error. The refs got it right - our guys got it wrong. That is frustrating so I empathize with the original poster. Finally, I must agree that this should be debated without name-calling, which serves no purpose and discourages discourse.
1998- How about Vinny Testaverde sneak against Seattle??? That year we had it good with refs calls. That one call brought back instant replay.
fenwyr has to receive some sort of TGG award for this thread. the absurdity of it and the vigor he defended it with simply has to be rewarded somehow. I don't thik it will die.
And I didnt deny the rule, the refs shouldent be faulted for the call. But I feel its a faulty rule, the defense gets a shot to create a Play whether its a TFL or force fumble when a QB gives it to a RB in a pitch play or when a QB passes it behind to a WR, the defender gets a shot to get a hand on it or pick it off....
Completely irrelevant to the rule. If it was 0 inches backwards, it's still a lateral, it's still a fumble. The refs at the game and at least a half dozen (Jets fan) posters within this thread, refute that. This is just pure aweseomness.
I think fenwyr missed his calling... He could easily have been part of the "Dream Team" that defended OJ Simpson and probably would have gotten the city of Los Angeles to pay OJ reparation damages for false arrest by the time he finished arguing the case, such is his talent!
oh my.The defenders shouldnt be able to tip the ball? who said that, Im too lazy to scroll up. I say we eliminate the defensive line, make it a little easier for the O
I can't believe this thread hasn't died yet. Fenwyr has obviously given up, yet everyone is still working hard to make this last. This is fantastic.
Seems this thread has "classic" written all over it? Even the title is pretty good, although to be honost I had no idea what it meant when I clicked on it.
i remember this...possibly the worst thread ever. not worst in entertainment value for sure, but worst in the sense that the original poster- i wont mention any names- could not have been more wrong
