Who do you want as the Jets starting quarterback in 2023? It's surprising that there has not been a comprehensive poll about the biggest question facing the Jets in possibly fifty years. Now is probably a good time to open that poll as we get closer to the point where the topic may soon take a turn and a decision on making offers will be upon us. We've had plenty of discussion but little new has been forthcoming so tell us who your pick would be today. There's maybe another ten or so who may get some votes but they can be dropped in the "Other" category and explained in posting. These are the most commonly mentioned names; some are immediately available, some only through wheeling and dealing and some are longshots. To avoid any slant, they are listed alphabetically. Have fun!
With weapons Jets have, if a QB can throw for 270 yards a game, couple of TDs, on 27-37 attempts, this team can be competitive until they find their young FQB. Rodgers and Lamar will cost too much, Carr and Tanehill are those 2nd tier guys who can help team maintain stability. My vote is for Carr.
Put me down for Rodgers. He is an X factor and I firmly believe he has a good year or two left in him. Carr is good but he won't overcome Mahomes or Burrow by himself. We need somebody like Rodgers to win a championship Carr is a good consolation prize though if Rodgers decides to stay with Packers.
Carr is young enough to give the Jets a few years of quality QB play, while management continues filling the necessary pieces, to build a consistent winner. Carr presents a rare opportunity to acquire a solid, durable QB that has a bunch of good years left in his tank. If he's had problems with cold weather, once he moves here, his body will acclimate to the climate. That's a none-issue. It gives the team some time to find a young, dynamic successor to replace Carr... again, to build a consistent winner. And... if he's signed, we'll probably know shortly after June 1 (I think that's the date), what their plans are for Zach... whether he'll be traded, or being staying for '23. .
Surprised myself by voting for Rodgers. But I don't think it will happen-- I think he'll either stay in GB or retire. My second choice would be a Garoppolo/White tandem, and drafting a QB, not trading up or anything just taking one wherever JD thinks best. They should do that every year. Garoppolo and White can tag-team starting and being injured.
I picked Zack Wilson. All roads MUST point to Arch Manning at the top of the 2025 draft. To this end, we must start ZW all of 2024.
There is far too many variables that can effect people's decisions. For instance all the Carr people realize he wants 35+ a year (being reported) to be "young enough to give the Jets a few years of quality QB play, while management continues filling the necessary pieces, to build a consistent winner". If Rodgers comes here, doesn't take a 1 to get him for 2 years, less of a cap hit this year than Carr, is motivated to win (by ego, money, whatever I don't gaf) then he is far and away the best option to win football games. We have a lot of stars cheap right now, the online can be fixed this off season, take a f'n chance for once people, we are institutionalized as a fan base and it's hard to watch honestly.
Trade is off the table for me. This leaves me with Carr and Wilson. Either will work for me. *Preferably trading wilson away for day 2~3 draft pick with Carr will work the best*
I vote Carr. I’m not as football knowledgeable as most of my fellow TGG but my gut tells me Carr is a better choice over the Man Bun Wearing Groundhog. Farve 2.0 I’m not into… Don,t let perfect be the enemy of the good.
I know Aaron Rodgers is a HOF qb, and I would love to have him as Jets QB, but he’s been in league 18 years, the drop off will happen, Jets have to win a SB with him in next two years if he does come. Are the Jets a SB winning team with Rodgers in next two years? I honestly don’t think they are there yet, with Rodgers they are definitely a playoff team, but not a team that can blow through Mahomes and Reid.
Carr. Any other top QB is going to require trade assets of some sort. The Jets should not be giving up any draft picks right now. They are building a young, dynamic roster and need this draft to keep that trend going. Draft a few more impact players this year to supplement what we already have.
