Who knows what it will take in trade compensation but I tend to believe it’s not going to be as huge a haul as GB may want…he’s getting old, he contemplates retirement every year…for me no way I’m giving up the 13th pick…I’d do a conditional based on him playing two years and us making the playoffs or something like that… GB will want something this year I’m sure but with his “will he or won’t he” annual drama i have a hard time giving up the 13th pick…

This whole fucking darkness retreat has almost completely turned me in favor of going hard after Derek Carr. Imagine we trade for Rodgers, get knocked out of the playoffs and starts pulling his bullshit. Have we not dealt with enough already? Every offseason is terrible around here and that would make it one of the worst. Not to mention him running his mouth all over the place blaming everyone else and promoting conspiracy theories which will almost certainly be tied back to the Jets despite the fact he’s been doing this shit for a decade.

Has the Living Legend come out of his cave yet? Did Punxsutawney Rodgers see his shadow? This is fckn ridiculous. Sign Carr and QW, then backfill the roster. Rodgers can go on living his dream up in GB.

I hope he decides to stay in Green Bay. I dont want to give up the 13th pick for him. The 13th pick + Carr is better than just Rodgers, IMO.

I am still all in on Rodgers but maybe because I believe it's not what others do. Firstly he has said he would be willing to restructure on McAfee which I am hoping moves money to the second year to prevent a one and done season and any waffling after the first year. Second I don't believe it takes our one this year, as many have stated just perhaps a second this year and a conditional one next year if we get to a certain point (AFC Championship or SB).
Third I think we will get a reinvigorated, motivated Rodgers like Brady and Stafford were. There is definitely something to the point that he is stagnant in GB and whether ego driven or not will want to be successful somewhere else. He said he still thinks he can play at an MVP level, I don't care what motivates him, just win baby.
I personally could give 2 shits about his darkness retreat or his beliefs and frankly noone should. That said he is still a top 5 QB and first ballot HOF player that would immediately make us division favorites and top 5 in the conference for sure. He hasn't fallen off, he is one year removed from back to back MVP's and was hampered last year by drops, young WRs and a broken thumb.
Carr is going to want 4 years minimum at 40+ a year and will probably get it. Especially if we "go all in" to sign him. He also doesn't appear to be in any hurry to sign anywhere so there is no "go get Carr" scenario. Does anyone really want to pay Derrick Carr like a top 5 QB?
If all this (obviously speculation but that's all we have right now) is true than how is Rodgers not far and away the best option? I'm sticking with my prediction that we get Rodgers and go to atleast an AFC championship game in the next 2 years and if that's all then fuck it, sign me up. So tired of watching this piss poor product we have seen the last decade, sign this beast!

Carr hasn’t played well in cold weather and the 13th pick could bust for all we know. At least if we get Rodgers, it’s a sure thing and would give us all what we would be complaining about for over a decade. It just seems that some folks have more of a vendetta against Rodgers on his non football views and hold that against him. Who cares what he says off the field, I just want to win games.

When was the last time the Jets played in really cold weather? Outside of Buffalo, which is more snow than cold, how often do they play in frigid conditions anymore? #climatechange

You have to wonder that even if Douglas and Saleh see Rodgers as the best option, they're getting to the point where really don't want to have to deal with his shit on a daily basis.

It's amazing how everything Rodgers says, does or thinks gets reported in the media. It almost seems as if the guy's main interests in life are creating drama, calling attention to himself and trying to prove that he's the smartest. most enlightened guy on the planet. That's a pretty good working definition of an extremely high-maintenance player.

I agree with most of your post but there's a 0% chance Carr gets Top 5 QB money. He'd have to get paid 45M+ in terms of AAV to be in the top 5.

Carr's ceiling is 40M on AAV, more likely he gets something in the 35-40M range on AAV. For reference, 40M would have him tied for 7th with Dak and Stafford. 35-39M range would have him 9th or 10th in terms of AAV.

And with guys like Lamar, Burrow, Herbert, etc. set to get new deals in the next 2ish years, it's likely that contract corrects itself and puts him in the 10-15 range, which is perfectly acceptable for a QB like Carr IMO.

The 13th pick could also be on OT that helps solidify the OL for a decade. That's the rub with the draft, you never know til they get on the field.

You nailed it, but you left out the part where he whines about people whining before then pretending he's the smartest guy in the room.

Carr + 13th pick (likely OT) is worth more than just Rodgers, IMO.

This sounds right, maybe not top 5 QB money. Especially with the cap set to skyrocket the next couple of years and all the young stud QBs due for deals but I guess my point was he's going to be expensive especially if we try to sign him before he makes up his mind with an offer he can't refuse. That's what it might take and frankly if Rodgers stays in GB I'm perfectly fine with that. We have a lot of guys on rookie deals and I want a chance to win, if that's what Carr gives us and Rodgers stays in GB then sign that beast lol, I just want to win some games.

I'm with ya. Either guy, Rodgers or Carr, is gonna be expensive though, but both guys give us the best chance to win for the next year/few years.

This whole situation is an unfortunate side-effect of Zach Wilson not panning out.

It would have been nice if he just declared his intentions after the season ended but I don't see a problem with him taking some time to reflect. Guy had a rough season where he played through an injury.

I don't dislike Aaron Rodgers like you do. Something tells me it has a lot to do with his vaccination status but I'm so over all that shit. I don't see it being a problem one way or the other. Shit, there were people who actually wanted Brady and all that guy has done is shit talk the Jets his entire career.

Carr is the better long term solution but for next year I think Rodgers is the better QB. I don't want to give up a 1 for him though.

I don't care about peoples' vaccination status these days. If you're dumb enough to not be vaccinated and you have no actual medical reason for it, that's on you. I dislike Rodgers because he's been a self-centered prick for a long time now. Guy ran off his own family, whines incessantly about everything, acts like he's the smartest guy in the room and also happens to be a conspiracy theorist who told a teammate to go research 9/11 if he doesn't think it was an inside job. All the while, he's dicking around my favorite team and shows no signs of slowing down should he end up on my favorite team. He sucks as a human and I don't think at this point his talent outweighs that. Will I be fine with it if it happens? Of course. But it's not my first option.

That's fair. But other than being a pedophile, woman beater or racist I couldn't care less about his personality or life outside of football.

Hence why I said I'd be fine with it. I can separate the dogshit human from the very good football player.
