I remember the Sack Exchange like it was yesterday... Joe K was a beast, un blockable one on one and even doubled he beat them. Congrads Joe, you deserve it and its long over due.
Same. The 1981 season was fun. I remember the last second win over the Dolphins 16-15. Shea exploded that day. The blowout win over Green Bay that clinched their first playoff berth since 1969. Unfortunately, my first gut wrenching loss with this team was the wild card game vs the Bills.
Joe Klecko - 1981 Sports Illustrated Player of the year, which was a big deal because Paul Zimmerman picked it I was in my early 20s and maybe I looked at it with different eyes, but I thought that was the greatest single season I ever saw a lineman have. The next year he tore up his knee early and was never as dominant, but still something special He moved to the nose in '85 when they went to the 3-4 He tried to jump the snap every play and must've set a record for offsides, LOL. Too bad that team never went to a Super Bowl.
What a great player! Epitomized selflessness. A "lunch pail guy" if ever there was one. Such a contrast to today's players who are so concerned with their own stats. Congratulations Joe! Long overdue, but finally justice is served!
I was a junior in high school when the sack exchange was the it in football. Klecko was beast. HIs bull rush was unbelievable. I don't know why it took so long for him to make the HOF but I am glad he did.
SO we’ll deserved and SO overdue! Had he played for a team like the Steelers or Cowboys he’d have been inducted long ago…I truly believe that.
I don't care at all what he does but it is discouraging to think that there are still people here promoting a guy who has been a consistent failure. The Jets wasted two years by making him the center of their universe. But really, this thread is supposed to be a celebration - why the hell would anyone talk about Wilson here? Aren't there enough threads about him already? Why not take your plans for him there?
