Go Joe. Revis, eh, I can wait on that one. Klecko never played for the Cheats and Klecko has been cheated long enough.
It is way past the time for JK to be enshrined. Seeing a guy like LT making it in with his drug and patronizing an underage prostitution, kind of shows the politics involved. Personally I really don’t care if Mevis ever makes it in. I know that he will because of his talent. Hopefully the Jets will never retire his number.
Jesus, can they drag this along any slower? I thought months ago the story was that he's a lock to get in this time. No one deserves it more. It's ridiculous that we're still discussing it.
Hall of Fame guard Joe DeLamielleure added that, "You can't think of his ten year period without him. I had to block Joe Greene and Merlin Olsen when I was playing and, believe me, Joe Klecko was equal to those two guys. If Joe Klecko had played one position for ten years, he'd have been considered one of the top two or three players at that position, whichever one it was. There's not another player who went to the Pro Bowl at three different positions. You take a defensive end and put him at nose tackle and he's just as good there, that's a great player. We need to get Joe Klecko in the Hall of Fame
Unlike the Baseball Hall of Fame, the Pro Football Hall of Fame considers only actual football performance and value in considering nominees; there are no provisions to exclude based on any real or perceived character, integrity, morality or other non-football considerations. By rule, there are no such politics involved.
He had a crazy first couple of steps/lunge ability. When he was double-teamed he'd push the guard or center into the path of the QB or RB with the ball and disrupt things that way. When he was one-on-one he was always a threat to get by his blocker and onto the play unimpeded. You see that a lot on the outside but Klecko could do it inside and it made him one of the guys people really feared playing against.
My beef, is that every encyclopedia on earth, doesn't have a picture of Klecko, next to "Football Player." Obviously, he's not in the HOF because he was a Jet. The Jets really need some extended winning seasons, to get that infection off the Jets name. We see it in games too, as far as penalties. As good as QW has been, given the choice, I'd take a Klecko clone... he was relentless. .
Long overdue for all the wrong reasons. Klecko was the greatest defensive player I've had the privilege of watching play for the Jets and there have been a few greats there before, alongside and after him.
