Absolutely. Which is why I’ve been calling him an elite player, not QB.

I think cut off for Carr is 37. Seems like he had a really good game at 38 degrees at some point, and that screws up the overall "cold weather" stats in this little sample size.

Does anyone know what the issue was with Carr and the Raiders? He is a good QB. Why would they just send him home the final 2 weeks and now want nothing to do with him? McDaniels not like him or something? Seems odd.

shutting him down was just about the money. If they don’t cut him in February he comes back for something crazy like $40 mill.

But they can’t cut him if he’s injured. They sat him the last two games because they were eliminated from the playoffs, the games didn’t matter so they didn’t want him to play and get injured

If he got hurt in those final two weeks it would have kicked in his guarantee money of $41million for the next year. They have until 3 days after the Super Bowl to make a decision on either trading or cutting him. I think that 3 day window is when Goff was traded from the Rams to the Lions.

I stand corrected. Yes, I would accept that...in a vacuum. But not necessarily for the cost being suggested.

Because of cost, fit, play style... my 2 cents. We need to resign Quinnen, Quincy and more, we have a playoff roster minus a decent QB. Lamar requires the offense be structured around him and I honestly believe he will take away from GW and BH.

    Carr
    Tannehill
    Jimmy G
    Lamar

    In that order.

..and If this happened. You would be happy. I would be content, at best.

Again. Out of the top 3 QBs being mentioned, I'd prefer, Carr. I'm not In love with, Carr. Picking him up doesn't get me excited, trading for him excites me even less.

I view It In the same vein as picking up, FitzMagic.

Surely, he would be better than anything we have on the roster now though. Yet, still underwhelming overall.

All else equal, Jackson is better than Carr. But considering what we'd have to give up to get Jackson, Carr is the better choice.

Not once did I say that and I'm not referencing any specific article. I'm also not specifically talking about temps that low. I question his play outside of a warm climate like LV and OAK. Some QBs just don't play very good In cold weather games. Key word, COLD WEATHER. Not artic fucking temps, just cold. It's a factor to go along with the other factors I have issues with when It comes to this QB. He Isn't perfect, there are risks and flaws associated with this QB. This Is just ONE aspect of that. One. Not the whole story here.

If we want a guy that puts up a lot of yards, then we have him already in Mike White.

I'm not sure Fitz beats out Smith if it weren't for the broken jaw. Carr is the instant starter if we sign him.

You are very emotional right now. I think if you stepped back for a few weeks you would be more level headed.

White = Garoppolo = the back up QB elevated to starter for 40%+ your season

    Carr seems to be durable

I am level. I also think I'm right.

I'm more than confident on my stance as of late.

We shall see how It all plays out.

.. and of course Carr would be the instant starter, who on our roster right now Is even average right now?

I have conceded that I think Carr Is at least above average.

That's content worthy. That doesn't excite me at all.

I want a fucking gamer at the QB position. A difference maker. A legit top 5 kind of FQB behind center.

    Carr Is farrrrrrr from that.

As it currently stands, there are 3 paths to this for the Jets this offseason and each one has it’s pros and cons.

    1) Hope ZW becomes that FQB.
    2) Draft a QB in the 1st. (EDIT: or just draft a QB in general)
    3) Trade for Lamar Jackson.

Which would be your preference for the Jets this offseason?

Therein lies the problem. We are not getting a top 5 FQB next season unless Zach miraculously turns this around, which you don't believe is happening. Another possibility is Lamar, which you also spoke against. So, no matter what the Jets do, you are not going to be excited - there is no other path currently to get a top 5 FQB. So, yeah, it will be one of these moves where we get someone like Carr at best or a Minshew/Brissett at worst and try to compete with these guys. Given this situation, my preference would be Carr, and therefore I would be happy if it happens. Is this a long term FQB solution? Maybe not, but it will make for an exciting season, and it does not preclude us from getting another promising young QB at some point in the future.

Here is a question: How high of a draft pick are you willing to spend on a developmental QB in the 2023 Draft?

Assume the Jets sign or trade for a veteran to start and keep Zach Wilson as QB2 for 2023. How much draft capital are you willing to spend on a potential future Jets QB this draft?

I think I would go as high as a 3rd round pick. It is worth the risk. I would not even complain if Joe Douglas used a 2nd Round pick on a QB. Realistically, taking one from Rounds 4-6 makes sense for the Jets.

Derek Carr will be the starting quarterback of the NY Jets.

    Book it, Danno...
