Think about it....the Jets spent FIVE 1st or 2nd round draft picks in 13 years to find a franchise QB: Sanchez (2009), Smith (2013), Hackenberg (2016), Darnold (2018), and Wilson (2021). Unbelievably, Sanchez was the best. Unreal.........
We gotta hire a offensive coach next time and maybe we can start to develop legit QBs who can throw simple stuff
Sanchez was the only one who had a decent team around him early on. Which is why we think he's the best of the group
Sanchez had the most success with the Jets, does not necessarily make him the best. I think Darnold or Geno would have been able to have success with that cast and ultimately both of them will in the end be regarded as better QBs than Sanchez.
The Jets HC is almost always from the defensive side of the ball. They're almost always a DC promoted to HC by the Jets. Why would anybody think the Jets would be capable of finding a QB when they have no expertise in QB play at the top of the organization? Eric Mangini was the best talent evaluator the Jets have had at HC. But he was from the defensive side of the ball and he let Tannenbaum take Kellen Clemens in the 2nd round.
I’ll never understand the Mangini talent evaluator posts. What evidence do we have that he had anymore pull in the room than any other coach? And what happened to those talent evaluation skills in Cleveland?
Mangini was also “responsible” for the biggest top 10 bust in recent memory before Zach if you are really giving him credit.
I remember when Mangini went to Cleveland we traded up from 17 to 5 for a 2nd to get Sanchez. They traded our 17th down to 21 and selected all pro center Alex Mack. Mangini's problem was he was so callous the players hated him.
We have to find our Jets Joe Schoen..the Giants got it spot on for GM. We have a Douglas who is always "trending upward" ..disgusting. Is this really such Rocket Science??? You have the right GM he makes the right decisions...plus Tisch and the Maras are no dummies Woody has to get real smart and real impatient>>>open the Wallet and get Payton here The alternative with present crew is another Season of misery/bullshit in all probability
We have no idea how to develop a QB. I was dead sure that Daniel Jones would be a backup and eventually out of the league a year ago, and now that guy might make $30 million next season after one year with Daboll. How does that happen exactly?
