On the Benigno show he says it's going to be tough and nobody on the team wants to go through it...But right now he doesn't want to think about it and he just wants to focus.

He said he's going to prepare more and when training camp does come he'll be ready for it and will look to be even better.

He also graded his 2007 performance as a B-. Because when you're ranked in the bottom half of run defense, it's going to fall in the inside linebacker, has to swallow his pride and the linebackers have to improve the run defense much more. It bothered him very much.

Nobody likes going to the dentist either but if you don't go your teeth rot. Training camp is supposed to suck and if guys are looking forward to it we're doing it wrong.

It was a GREAT interview. I'll definately post it when WFAN puts it on their website.

He sounded sick, like in terms of how the season ended. And i'm happy Evan brought it up that he liked how Vilma sounded down, he's taking it hard. And how fans take the losses harder than players, but Vilma just sounded very down.

Then one of them brought up the point of how ARod was partying a few days later, pretty much saying he is someone who doesn't care if they win or lose.

Their is a difference between not looking forward to something and then just complaining about it. I mean so what you dont like training camp, do you have to cry to the world about it? Sorry if Im wrong but to me it sounds like our players are coming off as moping and bitching. Try working another job there fellas, TC aint that bad for the money you make.

Camp Herm has really made the players too comfortable. I dont think Bellicheck ran a simple Herman-esque camp. If you wanna be the best team, in the best shape, come January. It starts in TC, your supposed to work hard there, not get lazy. When I played football I knew TC was hard, however if we had a soft day I knew it was a bad thing as all the other teams never had soft days.

These guys better man up, get ready for camp and stop crying to the media because they certainly dont have my sympathy. TC is what makes champions, time to remember that.

I agree, but it is also the day after a grueling season and a disappointing playoff loss. Two days ago you're gearing up for a playoff game and dreaming of the Super Bowl, now people are asking about your feelings towards next year's camp. I wouldn't expect the answers to be much different.

Personally I was afraid of the Jets having an Al Groh burnout at the end of the year, but we got better if anything. So I'm ok with the camp Mangini ran and expect the same in 2007.

Way too bitchy. These guys need to go talk to Curtis Martin and as him what he used to do during the offseason.

For all these players talking about not wanting to go through another Mangini training camp, they can all go away for all I care and we can get players that want to be coached and play at a high level. Time to throw the trash out boy's!

OK thats a little over board..the fact is none of the players want to do another training camp under Mangini. So I guess well have zero players on our team. Personally, I think Mangini will ease up SLIGHTLY this year after making his mark. He had to come in and demand respect because he was the youngest coach in the league. Now hes got the respect, his players like him, and I feel like he might ease up a bit.

Yes, just a little. I am completely serious about getting rid of all the players that don’t fit our team offensively and defensively. John Vilma is fantastic trade bait material and Ill bet his name is going to be mentioned come draft time or before!

Thats a good plan. Lets get rid of our top player on both sides of the ball. (besides Rhodes). Thats how you build a superbowl team.

Some are taking this too seriously.

I remember some of the lineman saying they weren't looking forward to training camp when Herm was the coach.

Nobody likes training camp. Everybody knows it. Mangini isn't going to hear this interview and be shocked that the players don't want to go through it.

Guess what, we endend up with a new head coach at 10-6, because training camp was actualy a work out and not a tea paty..

Exactly. I called up Benigno/Roberts and even mentioned that Herm never ran camps like this, like some of you have mentioned. I understand the camp is grueling and can be annoying, but to me it's more beneficial to the players in my eyes. Tougher, stronger, and I like it for players to be that way.

Wow Training camp sucks!!!. I played football in high school and just finished my College ball. Training camp sucks period. In my junior year we was in a similar situation where we loss in the playoffs and we wasn't looking to training camp at all after the loss. It changes though because as the months go on and your missing football more and more you look forward to it and you start wishing for training camp to come sooner. Some of the players on my team even thought about quitting because they didn't want to go through everything again. guess what no one quited and the following year we made it to the championship game in H.S. We lossed though. lol

Where have you read that? I haven't. We're assuming that because a couple of guys bitch, that "none of the players" wants another Mangini camp?

First of all, if you guys could attend the camp, you'd see it isn't all that terrible. In fact, it's what you'd expect a typical TC to be. Sure, by comparison, Mangini's camp is tougher than Herm's was, but then again the 6-8th grade Girl's Merrill Park Softball Training Camp is tougher than Herm's TC was.

The worst part of camp last summer was the heat. But hey, this is the NFL... and you're out there trying to make a roster spot on the NY Jets for crying out loud... a roster spot that might be worth millions of dollars to you and secure your financial future and that of your entire family for a lifetime! BF Deal! I'd lowcrawl through the NY sewer system in a tuxedo if they said that's what it would take to make the team.

people thought bellicheck was crazy for getting rid of some of his players and it seemed to work out. I'm not saying dump the entire roster, but if players don't fit, fuck em.

The poster after you got it right! Just a little too serious there bud. I have not advocated that Vilma be traded or be purged from the team, I have just expressed in the simplest term that I am for getting rid of all dead weight on this team and getting players that fit our defensive scheme and offensive scheme ,philosophy, style ,what ever you want to call it. (I purposely put the words dead weight to get you all fired up)
So by reading this post am I referring to Vilma? You probably think so! And is Vilma not a name that could garner an early first round pick to get a player that might fit better then he is. A fair question that would require a fair answer! Not an arbitrary statement trying to put another person in a bad light.
