But just like in real life, all good things must come to an end and so it is with the 2022 season. Our defense is pretty damn good but they can't stay on the field all day. Our offense is the weak link and until that gets straight, nothing good will happen to this team. They boxed themselves into a corner with ZWilson. They literally have to play him just to justify the pick. In 21 games, he's only shown just minimal flashes. Now is that a function of MLF's offense? Who knows but more yardage happens under MW and that's not disputable. Is ZWilson the right QB for MLF or isn't he? That is the question the Jets MUST ANSWER before they can go forward. I'm not sure the best QB for MLF is on the roster as of 2022. It could be MW although his lack of mobility guarantees time on the sidelines. Streveler will never see the field mainly because of his CFL pedigree and the bias that comes with it. So we don't have a viable QB at the most important position on the field. The CS has to be a bit more imaginative in their approach on both sides of the ball. Ulbrich needs to blitz more. MLF needs to be more unpredictable. Saleh needs to get mad at the Refs when they miss the obvious calls. No more Mr. Polite as that shit doesn't work. Nobody saw this team as a Playoff contender and honestly, we're not with all of our issues and injuries. We had a helluva run in 2022 and for that, be thankful as it could have been over weeks ago. Our Defense is good. Our Offense sucks. Our CS is still new to the job. We're not there yet folks... Not yet..
Season isn’t over yet. Hopefully MW comes back in a week or so and Zach squeaks out a win against the jags.
It's tough when all your best players are injured, especially on offense. Best 2 o-lineman. Injured. 2nd best WR. Injured. Best running back. Injured. Best QB. Injured.
The op is 100% correct but so are you. The OL has played like sh*t since the 1st Buffalo game. And there's clearly no excuse....
I knew we were in Quicksand with Zack back Sqeek out a win..? Lmao Cman is right and you can check the betting line ..we are not winning out Adios 2022 ...a surprising run is right
No it wasn't Coaching blew the season, the Jets have the talent to be a playoff team but they are a "dysfunctional team" and a "dysfunctional organization". They were setup to make the playoffs and choked at every chance they got. No need to pat them on the backs for choking. But we already know Zack sucks, time to see if Mike White deserves a long term deal or we need to look for another Qb this offseason again for the 500th time.
So now instead of morale victory games, morale victory seasons? Hell no this was a epic failure, I get we had some bad injuries, however that's part of the game This team has a lot to prove going forward, I'm so sick and tired of losing, but this franchise never disappoints in that area
No one expected us to be as good as we are. Most notably the coaching staff, otherwise ZW would’ve been on a shorter leash and Flacco wouldn’t have seen the field at all. For the first time in a while it doesn’t seem as if we are too far away from legitimacy. We need to see what our healthy OL looks like. Might need to pick up some more productive backups. The rest of the O seems fine. Great RB and solid backups. Good TEs although Uzomah needs to have a larger role. Outstanding receivers when Berrios isn’t on the field taking up space. The D is really solid. Could use more LB depth/an eventual replacement for Mosley. Biggest ? is of course QB. It is clear that Zach needs more time to develop. And MLF needs time to develop if they want ZW to eventually be the starter. A game manager can obviously be successful here and seems to be a better fit for MLF’s system than an “off platform” gunslinger. Behind a solid OL that could easily be White. Not sure who’d be available that’s a significant step up.
Our offense has been good this year too at times. It's just unfortunate. Need a little more talent and a little more fluidity between CS and player. Our players gaining this valuable experience Is a plus heading into next season too.
Yeah, I don't see us winning another game. We're going to finish the season 7-10. Very disappointing finish considering we were 6-3. At least we know Zach isn't the future and can close that chapter in the off-season. Still, there's a lot to be proud of with this team.
Shit happens to every NFL team man. Injuries are part of the game. The Jets just didn't have the horses to compensate for the losses in capability. Like I said.. We're not there yet... We will be, just not right now..
This team has been a circus all year under coaching from the 1st game of Flacco who has no future in this team starting instead of White/Steveler, to the Mims/Moore drama to the now Wilson/White drama and still is .500 that shows how much talent it really has, if they can get a competent coach and offensive coordinator in here next year we may be superbowl bound, but to bad "ownership" is clueless.
Better season than what I was expecting, frustrating but entertaining overall. I know it's not 'over' yet, which is nice. But at least they played close games and never got blown out. This team would have been something else with a healthy and strong offensive line.
I completely agree, and it's kind of funny. We've heard all of this talk about "how good we are". We're a mediocre football team. I think 7 wins was one of the popular guesses for the number of wins we'd have in the preseason. That's where we are, yet because it came in the early part of the schedule, which was supposed to be the more difficult half of the schedule by a considerable margin, it put expectations on this team that they had no business having put on their shoulders. This is a mediocre football team with a major hole at the QB position, and they won't sniff the playoff next year either if they don't fix things at that position. It might even require bringing in an entirely new QB room.
The Mets choked too and that felt just as bad as this. The team over performed and we got spoiled. The reality is, we weren't as good as we thought we were. The better teams usually win. The roster still needs an upgrade and I trust JD to do it.
This is the Jets - you know if anything good happens it's going to come to an end - just get tired of the same shit year in and year out - every time its a brutal idiotic move here or a terrible gaffe there and throughout we have a QB that can't lift the team instead you have to hope that the rest of the team can lift the QB - and it has been that way for 30+ years - they just NEVER get it right and every time they have a chance to make a smart move (like get the #1 pick and have the chance to draft someone withg the potential to be a franchise QB) they always find a way to screw it up.
When you've sucked as long as the Jets have? you tend to lower the bar and take whatever you can from a season. This team wasn't as good as we thought they were. The D is here. The O is not. They have to get the QB position figured out or we'll see this movie again. We're not there yet. That's the cold hard reality.
I am not sure I can even face watching next week's game against the Jags and see Lawrence put up 30 points on the Jets as we lose again
