White wasn’t very accurate yesterday. He was throwing a step behind receivers stealing across the field a lot early on.

I suspect some of this has to do with the fact that he just played a rain game where his receivers were naturally running slightly slower and then he had to readjust on the turf without many reps with these guys.

I’d guess he looks better next week provided the cold isn’t too unreasonable.

Putting MLF's playcalls aside for a moment... there were plays to be made.

Not finishing drives with touchdowns and settling for 3 points or worse... no points(gasp!)... is how you let wins slip away.

If the Jets get beaten to shit in Buffalo, the Mike White era might be over.

Maybe we could really fuck with this entire situation and claim Baker.

I thought that too. I felt like we collectively lost our heads towards the end of that first half. We brought heavy pressure in the red zone and got gashed with a TD run, and we went for it on fourth down when there was absolutely no need to do so. Our decision to review that first down grab was also never going to pay off (I think that was earlier in the half, though)

I also felt our play calling went off. We were looking good with the dump-offs and YAC, then we started to go for a lot of mid-range passes. I think we were also let down by our defense. Scoring 22 points would have been good enough on most weeks this year. Things improved in the second half and then there was that weird drive where we let them waltz down the field and score incredibly easily.

If they punt deep there, Vikings probably dont score.... Which then allows the JETS to go for another FG at the end instead of needing to force a TD to win.

I’m not gonna kill Saleh for that decision. The Jets had the ball at mid field down 2 touchdowns at the time. Trying to score in that situation is a good call

I get that.... but if it was on the other side of the 50 It would be totally different, then I'd definitely agree.

This is why they need a run-heavy plan. I’m not a fan of RPO but I think it might be the best plan in Buffalo. Have to freeze the linebackers somehow or they are going to overwhelm White and the offense.

Michael Nania's breakdown of Mike's performance:
    https://jetsxfactor.com/2022/12/06/ny-jets-qb-mike-white-grading-every-throw-vikings/

Really good, albeit long read. He does grade very low the missed opportunities I mentioned, like 3d and 10 on the last drive and missed TD to GW in a go route, but really there aren't that many other poor passes. Nania concludes this was very good, just under elite level performance because Mike made a lot of big throws in comparison to a few big misses. I would say it was a good game. But there is a lot to like. Really looking forward to big test this weekend and Mike playing well and leading us to a win over the Bills.

The what was such a blatant Pass Interference in the 1st qtr at the 5:49play mark. The play is at the 2:30 mark on the YouTube video. How is the official in place and not calling that?

I want to see some effing flexbone. Or at least some kind of innovation that uses our personnel in smart ways. It made me sick to my stomach to see Belichick getting long gains out of his TEs using them both in the flexbone with the RB, Jonnu Smith ripped off a long ass run on us doing that shit.

Young coaches are supposed to innovate, not hide behind their schemes like old men.

I have to disagree. Their linebackers, particularly Edmunds, have a tendency to overrun plays. i think you gotta use that to your advantage by not being predictable. A run-heavy plan is more predictable

Also Milano is an excellent linebacker in obvious passing situations. I don't want to get in obvious passing situations. If you run on 1st and 2nd down every time they will stack the box and every 3rd down will a long 3rd down playing right in their hands.

White is not Wilson, he doesn't lock on 1 or 2 receivers, he spreads the ball around. I want to use the short passing game to take advantage of Edmunds weaknesses and get shorter distances on 3rd downs

The point of the RPO is that you are unpredictable because you could run or pass on virtually any play out of the same formation: one back and a 3-1 split that forces the defense to overload on one side.
