Dude stop crying. You just ruined a thread with your fucking whining over something that happened two years ago on an internet message board.
The people that read lots of articles and review film work kept insisting Zach was improving. Their credibility isn't real high, and their ego based emotional opinions led them to many a false conclusion.
Again are you not doing this very thing? You're ranting multiple times about a poster that hasn't even posted in the thread. I'll tell you straight, there were a lot of back and forth gifs, he didn't play that game alone, everybody knows who else was involved. Another thing, I don't think he was that keen on Fields, he was just anybody other than Wilson and I'm sorry but as of right now he hasn't been wrong on that score.
legler did promote Fields, who showed improvement this year before getting hurt. I'm sure he's been wrong on multiple occasions, but is there anything wrong with that? No one's right all the time.
No one else was posting 50 to 100 times everyday in that thread. No one else was even remotely close to posting that much. It was almost all Legler and others were only responding because Legler was drowning out every other post. I am I am not saying everyone else was perfect. But it was 95 percent Legler. It was all about his ego. He could not back up factually the assertions he made about Fields so he became an internet bully and decided to post 50 to a 100 times in the same thread everyday. Not for a for a day. Not for a week. Not for a month but for 3 freaking months. The shame is he is extremely bright and has a lot to offer. But, man that was internet bully behavior taken to the extreme. I challenge anyone to find someone who has spammed a forum worse on any board anywhere on the internet worse than what Legler did here for 3 months. Behavior like that has helped turned this board into a real life version of Lord of the Flies. Edit: In regards to your earlier post. I like and enjoy your posts and I also like and I enjoy Legler's posts except when he was spamming the forum. Absent a very sincere apology I will have a hard time forgiving Legler. His actions attacking this forum were extraordinary. That does not mean that I do not recognize that outside those posts he is intelligent and makes good posts just that I think he did great harm to this forum and made it much easier for bad behavior to be accepted.
I’m probably one of Zach’s biggest supporters so in a sense I get where Simms is coming from. It also maybe coach speak for Saleh to mention that this is a week to week thing with him and that the organization isn’t giving up on him. One thing he does do is he will protect the players. He’s done this with Mims and Moore and they have for the most part redeemed themselves but that’s by playing better and being put in a position to succeed. I think what Simms is saying is that the fans and media have destroyed Zach over the past few weeks, and that’s unfair whether or not he’s made a mistake by having a mic shoved in his mouth after an awful game. Then after, he’s being mocked and looked at on sideline behavior everytime the camera showed him and he’s looking not how “we” feel he should. Dude lost his starting job. He’s also apologized to the team on his own free will we know that. Whether or not Zach is trash or not, he’s gonna have to get after it harder then before. The fact that this teams ascension to being potential contenders literally in a span of a few weeks changed the narrative on Zach. Because before it was, he’s working his way back, he had a few solid games, few where he managed the game, and then two stinkers to the Pats, which IMO, really irked fans and media honestly. The defense stayed being top tier, Saleh had no choice to make the move. Outside of White throwing up Zach numbers, I think he’s the starting QB from here on out. If White performs admirably well, you absolutely bring White back on a 2 year deal. I don’t think there’s a TON of difference between Jimmy G and White here. The difference is White has time in this offense that I’d rather not bring in a veteran. It can most certainly be a battle between Zach and White next year. The book isn’t done on Zach as a QB here possibly and maybe in general. Maybe throwing the book at him was too aggressive. We did have to wait for this defense to turn into a stud defense . Maybe Zach needs more time.
It's not about being right or wrong with some of these clueless talking heads anymore, rather it's more about them trying to reinforce their wrong claims and taking it to the grave even knowing they're factually incorrect. Chris Simms is delusional.
I'm sorry imo and my memory says that just isn't true, there was enough going on between both parties of Wilson fans and detractors to leave both sides hanging their heads, I do agree it was a sorry time for the board and we also lost another good poster at the same time. (Kurt) Anyway, I don't want to fall out about it, I was just saying as an impartial bystander who wanted Lance as QB (though I wanted him as part of a trade-down situation in my defence lol)
this is absolute malarkey performance under pressure cannot be a fact because pressure is a subjective measure a qb holding the ball too long and creating a situation where they’re pressured will get credit for a completion under pressure while a qb who does the right thing and hits the hot read will get no such credit not to mentioned a lineman at coastal Carolina bearing down on you pales in comparison to one from Michigan doing the same zach has been terrible at both creating pressure for himself and throwing with linemen in his face … so who was really wrong about those “facts”??
Jones, Lawrence, Wilson and Fields all faced a similar number of pressures of around 85 total pressures each their last year in college. There was a nice chart in the pre draft thread that showed each QBs time to release, how often they stayed in the pocket , sack percentage, etc. Of the 4 QBs 3 were pretty similar with Jones being slightly the best, Zach the 2nd best, Lawrence 3rd and only one really bad. That was Fields. Fields had the highest sack rate, ran from the pocket an extra ordinary amount and held the ball the longest per throw. Fields only threw the ball roughly 66 percent of his dropbacks bailing earl Conoared to 85 percent). These numbers on Fields have been replicated in the pros. His sack rate is extraordinary Sanchez bad. Mark Sanchez was the all time NFL fumble leader in fumbles per game after 4 years. Fields has doubled that rate. Fields INTS plus fumbles is double that of Zach despite playing less games from constantly getting injured. Fields has also bailed from the pocket similar to what he did in college. So yes the numbers for Fields are similar and were a good predictor. In regards to Fields passing. He was not experienced a passer as Wilson. A much more raw prospect who had never thrown pro passes, never shown the ability to anticipate, never played in a normal offense where receivers had options and had a throwing motion that needed a lot of work. Wilson was the only top college QB to have actually played in a pro offense and shown the ability to make pro throws. All other QBs scouts had to project that ability. Fields raw passing ability has followed him to the pros. He has by far been the worst passer. But where he has shined is as a RB. His ability to tear up defenses with his legs has made him dangerous. Once the Bears chabged their offense to make Fields a runner 1st things changed. In regards to Zach the numbers they were not a good predictor. He has been awful under pressure. Posting similar sack percentage to Fields and completely folding under pressure. The difference is Zach's issues are not necessarily related to pressure but mental issues related to a lack of confidence. When he plays with his confidence he is a different player. When he makes a mistake everything falls apart including his mechanics, pocket presence and decision making. The film work bears this out when he makes a mistake he completely changes. I don't think any numbers like that can predict mental issues. Nor would I argue that mental issues like this can be fixed easily for any QB. It is the mental issues and losing confidence where most young QBs fail. We saw this with Geno is year 2 after GB, we saw it with Darnold after NE. When confidence goes everything goes especially pocket presence. Now could you make the argument that he faced less mental pressure at a small school? Probably.
his lips were shaking on SNF with Tony Dungy last week. I honestly thought he was gonna start crying, it was really weird.
The argument they kept using on Sunday was that the Jets invested so much in Wilson so there's no friggin' way that he's NOT the franchise QB. 2001: The Patriots signed Drew Bledsoe to a then-record 10 year, $103 million contract. That's what I would call investing a LOT in a guy. Then, Mo Lewis ruptures Bledsoe's spleen, and some second year, 6th round pick out of Michigan takes over for Bledsoe, and the rest was history. It's hard to say that the Patriots made a mistake because they went with their then-cheap 6th rounder over the guy they had "invested in". You gotta go with the guy who wins. Right now, we have a 2nd overall pick who is struggling, and a 5th rounder who is showing promise. It's too early to tell, but you can't just stubbornly stick with a guy just because of where you draft him or how big his contract is.
As with many of these underqualified and overpaid hacks, Chris Simms' ego is more interested in becoming the story than providing an honest account of the story. Also, probably has something to do with Simms' career NFL passer rating being just as putrid as Zach's (misery loves company). But, but, but...Zach is 5-2. Of course, Simms ignores that Zach's offense only averaged 14 points per game in his last four starts, which does not even come close to cutting the mustard for a playoff contender. No wonder Simms detests the NY Jets fans: they have exposed his incompetence.
I get your point, and normally I would agree 100%, but in the case of Simms, he promotes himself as a “draft expert” first and foremost. Don’t you think rants like these hurt his credentials?
Not really. He is a TV media personality first. In terms of TV media draft experts he is miles ahead of the competition. Kiper and the talking heads at ESPN are complete and utter idiots. No matter what Simms he is better than them. Is he as good as a real draft guru likeTim Jenkins? No. But that is not what he is trying to do. He doesn't do the depth or film break downs that the real draft experts do. He is just trying to be a semi intelligent media draft expert while creating his own brand which appears to be self confident, stubborn, picks a little outside the ESPN main stream and is willing to say anything like his frequent use of the F word. Sticking with Wilson is not that hard for him to do. It plays in with his brand plus it got us all to watch. What I find brilliant is everything he said was mostly true in regards to the schedule, long term plan, etc just that he refused to acknowledge a few important and very relevant facts such as how far Wilson had regressed and had completely fallen apart in terms of confidence and Wilsons need for a complete reset to stop the bleeding. He argues well and makes a solid argument just leaving out a few critical details. Again the problem isn't Simms. The problem is how low ESPN has set the bar. Simms can do whatever he likes and he looks like a genius compared to all the other main stream talking heads. He might market himself as a draft expert and he is compared to the competition but above all else he is there to make himself and PFT money. That is creating controversy, getting people riled up, giving people a reason to watch him even if they do not like him and it works. He is a money maker. He finds ways to get views. He just goes about it much better than ESPN in terms of how they get views. ESPN uses a lot less substance and more bait and switch to get more casual fans hanging. Simms stokes the fires of people that want a bit more information regardless of how serious or honest he is. All these guys are playing us for page hits. From Bart Scott, to Cimini, to Cowherd, to Jerimiah to Kiper to Simms. They all use their own style to try to trick us into paying attention to them. It is all staged and scripted to maximize views.
