Carter doesn't seem to have the burst he had last year.

Whatevs... Bam Knight is gonna see a lot more action.

I'm not worried about our running back situation.

I like Carter, but truthfully I wanted Stevenson in that draft. Could have had him without a trade up.

MC breaks tackles but when he does, he’s moreso just moving the pile/slippery type. Plus he doesn’t have the burst to get to a hole quick and bust off huge gains…He’s not a “bruiser” in the sense that he’s gonna make a big play in the run game. He kinda reminds me of Perine of the Bengals. Just a solid back who you can rely on but you really don’t see as a gamebreaker.

I really like Carter and I don't see the point of criticising him for not being something else. He is a good complementary back, and he has produced for us this season. He's not a bell cow, but he's a useful weapon on offense.

I don't think the purpose/responses to this thread are meant to criticize MC1--we all love him. Its about a cold, hard look at what roster moves can be made to improve SB chances.

If we carry 3 rb's, with the emergence of Bam, who do we carry--that's the question.

I think good points have been made about under-utilization of MC1 skills, but if MLF is set in his ways, then you gotta consider a more productive alternative at least hypothetically on a message board.

MC is actually great at breaking tackles

his biggest issue is that he doesnt have great vision to find the cutback hole

    hes a solid back tho

I’d rather see Carter on third down instead of Ty Johnson but besides that, whatever.

Bam Knight looked way more explosive than Carter ever has. I think Carter dances around too much.

TBH James Robinson is probably the second best RB on our roster. He's just not the best fit for our system.

You did read the opening line of the first post, right?

We carry Hall, Carter and Bam, Ty looked like he had something then didn't and then shows he does on sporadic plays, he would be the 4th RB atm imo, Robinson and his damaged knees can be traded.

    bingo!

I think that’s the main difference with Hall is that Hall has that innate vision…that ability to sense and see where the hole is and then the speed and power to get it and break through…

Ya I agree on your RB crew--agreed I'd rather have the 6th (or 5th) back at this point rather than Robinson. But if you told me someone would give a 4th for MC1 I might roll with Robinson instead. It may benefit MC1 to be in a different offense where maybe he can become more Sproles-like. Right now he's more Boston Scott like who's very decent.

Maybe OP could have put it more delicately lol but its still not a criticism of the man IMO

PS: aren't you, wilkerson, and ukjets all from England? I wonder if there's a social mores whereby you guys are more sensitive to player criticism especially after a win--like you think its wrong to say anything but sheer positives. You do have a rep for being a polite culture.

In this context I interpret "Not good" to mean we should seek improvement at the position given our current offensive philosophy. He'd be fine in a more run-and-gun offense but that's not what we're about. In our offense a 1-cut runner getting North/South and breaking arm tackles is better than a slippery broken field runner juking through defenders. That's my interpretation.

Absolutely not, we will criticise where it is warranted, win lose or draw.

Fair enough, your interpretation is every bit as valid as mine.
