Murray is just as stupid when it comes to football intelligence as Zach is. He was the one that actually asked why they don’t draw up broken plays on purpose because he doesn’t know wth to do before then. He also wants waaaay too much money. His only redeeming quality is his legs.

He just signed a $230.5M contract? Wants or makes?

i think the dead cap would be $23.2M if he is traded. I can't see them doing that.

I'm fine with taking another shot in the draft - i think that will always be the right choice. A guy like Bo Nix is fine by me.

I don't think it's the right choice with the Jets when they do not have a vet QB who is in the job already. There's too much pressure to play the young guy right away and that always turns into a clusterfuck for the Jets.

Seriously, I think the Jets earn the right to make a high pick for a QB once they have acquired or otherwise found a vet to install the offense around. There's too much pressure on both the offensive staff and the rookie if they try to both things at once: install the offense and install the rookie. Doing the first half and then once that is accomplished doing the second is likely to be more productive in this environment.

Think of it this way: the last young QB the Jets installed successfully was Chad and his rookie year nobody expected him to play over Vinny. He was like a total afterthought. The next year there was the whole question during camp if he would get a real shot and the new administration stuck with Vinny again. The second year of Herm and Hackett they started with Vinny and then put Chad in when the Jets got off to a bad start. That lessened the immediate pressure on him and when he started to look really good in the middle of the season the transition was complete.

They put Chad in during the JAGS game when Vinny got hurt (and they were already getting SMOKED... like the 3 previous games)
As soon as they put him in, the offense did a 180 (showing what shitty talent evaluator Herm was)... its was Chad's team from there.

I was at that game.... Shitty games in Jacksonville sadly have been par for the course...

Yeah, this all makes sense. I don't think drafting a rookie is the definitive answer or anything, I'd just so much rather hit on a solid QB on a rookie contract than any other realistic vet available at big money.

And it's certainly a much harder direction to stomach as a fan of this team, as they haven't drafted even a league average QB in literally decades, so it feels kind of impossible.

I’m perplexed with people in here calling for Minshew and seemingly being serious.

    Simple answer.
    1. If Zach had Minshew’s stats over his first 20 games, we would be pissing outselves in glee.
    2. He will be cheap (relative to other names being thrown around) because he's been a QB2 for the past 2 seasons. That allows the Jets some cap flexibility and the ability to keep this defense together. If they can't take advantage of Zach's rookie contact, that's the next best thing.
    3. This offense has a helluva lot more weapons than he ever had in Jacksonville.
Decisions like this are not as simple as "go sign mister X and his $40M+ contract".

All that being said, I'd prefer it if Zach would get his head out of his ass, White would bulk up a bit, and they duke it out in camp next year.

I say ride with Mike White. Draft a QB in 2nd or 3rd round. Have a real competition for the starting role next summer. Let the best one be the QB.

the days of the jets taking a QB in the top 5 have to be finished.

There are other ways to fill the most important position on the field.

Why isn’t Minshew a starting QB in the NFL right now?

    Stop.

you are so jaded from Zach’s play, you’re willing to settle for a 20-25 ranked QB.

    I am not.
