Good decision to let Zach take time and work out his issues.... mental & mechanical. Starting White will answer a lot of questions... and not just about Mike White. And thankfully it will give this forum something new to talk about other than how bad Zach is and how spoiled he is. Let the playoff run continue...
I wouldn't go that fair Acad23 lol. Let's just hope we can finish the season strong and make the playoffs. Everything after that we shall see.
Can't hurt to see what he's got. Offense is better than it was for him last year, maybe we see a better player. I'm not expecting anything crazy, but he's certainly no worse than Zach.
This is exactly what I said in another thread. The weapons and confidence of this team has improved immensely since he last played. If Mike White isn't the answer then he can't suck it up any worse then Zach. Very good point.
If Mike White just hits the WRs/TEs/RBs that are running wide open, the Jets are going to beat the shit out of a lot of teams the rest of the way. Zach wasn't capable of doing this, hopefully Mike White is.
I should have put the j/k tag on the last sentence. I don't have any misconception that Mike White is gonna turn the Jets into some kinda juggernaut... not at all. But as the two Patriot games showed very clearly... competent quarterback play would have won those games and we'd be 8-2 and the AFC East leader.
I agree. Also, it's not like we play in an easy division as well. I was hoping to make the playoffs, but those two NE loses might have done us in.
If the Mike "Paper" White era lasts a month I'll be pretty amazed. Not that he cant succeed. He just can't stay on the field.
I posted this on wilson thread - but should go here - Mike White is going to come in and thankfully make people forget about Zach Wilson. We’re gonna see screens, short game executed to perfection, an ability to anticipate and find open targets and far more accurate intermediate passing. It’s gonna be night and day… Mike White played 4 games last year… Vs Cincy - he had statistical the best game ever for a first start in NFL history - 37/45 - 401 yards, 3 tds. @ NE in his 2nd start again @ NE!!! And with a bad offense, young offensive coordinator, no run game - he completes 62.5%, 201 yards - 1 td-2 int… then he plays well vs Colts completing 7/11 - 95 yards 1 td, no ints… but gets hurt (forearm)… in the first qtr… so hurt that it didn’t look like he would be able to start vs buffalo… but he does and throws for 251 yards on the number 1 defense in the league… again with a bad offense… Yes Mike White threw 4 picks in that game, but 1 was due to being down and getting too aggressive, one was miscommunication with his WR (WR fault), and one was slightly underthrown due to being under pressure… this is what he says after - "The only thing we can do is get better from it and not let this beat us twice and get into the film room and learn from our mistakes, me included and starting with me first. Being able to learn from what happened today and not let it happen again." Mike White is a leader + maybe just maybe gonna do something special this year…
Yeah, Mike isn’t the answer, but good for him. If he plays decently he gets that sweet, sweet backup QB paycheck for many years to come.
