Improving the guard position is a must, I may be able to deal with another season from Kendall, he was solid, but he can be upgraded.

Defensive Backs, most notably Corner. Today it clearly showed, Brady just tossed the ball on the outside like nothing numerous times on the out-route. The depth was average when Dyson went down and the Jets need more aggressive corners to jam and bump while running in stride with the receiver. I would love an Asante Samuel just because he could bring that physical play at corner while putting Dyson on the right side...

A pass-rushing OLB, it'll upgrade depth since Hobson would most likely move inside and battle with Barton, the "loser" being the primary backup. Because Brad Kassell and Matt Chatham are shitty depth for LB, they're SPECIAL TEAMERS.

And lastly a NT, I would like for DRob to kick out Kimo at DE and go from there...

I think DeWayne would make a good 3-4 DE also nyjunc. He has shown good speed this year. The only question I have is can he seal off the outside? I bet he can.

    Kickoffs

We need a kicker who can reach the end zone on kickoffs ; we gave up too much field position on most of the kickoffs . If you want to keep Nugent for field goals , then they are going to have to sign a kick specialist .

    1st round -
Run stuffing DT/NG. A Wilfork type to help out DRob. He was getting worn out.
2nd round- We might be able to pick up a good tall reciever here. I know what your thinking. What? WE have 2 great recievers. The problem is, LC is on borrowed time. HE was concussed against the fins and looked like he had another one against the Pats. The reciever class might be the deepest position this year.I also think Jmac will move on. You need a special guy to catch CP's lobs.
    3rd-OL depth
4th-ol depth-We were very lucky our OL stayed healthy. Won't be that lucky next year.
    5th-Special teams

We need a big time pass rushing DE. But if Marshawn Lynch is around when we pick (which I doubt), I'll take him...

that is alot to ask for one offseason, that sounds more like a 2-3 year plan than a 1 year plan. I like the thinking but I don't want to give away all our cap room in 1 offseason and we only have so many picks to acquire the types of talent you describe.

For us to improve immediately next year, the top 3 would be DT, RG and RB, but its tough to find 3 immediate impact starters in a draft, but maybe the Jets can pull it off.

Other areas that can be improved are Safety, OL depth, TE.

If Brian Leonard of Rutgers is still sitting there in the 3rd round, I would grab him as our new full back (Hell, do we even have a full back?). The guy can flat out block and has great hands. This way you have a guy who can run block, pass block for Chad or go out in the flat on 1st and 2nd down situations (assuming Washington becomes the 3rd down scat back). I really like the guy, only concern is he'll be gone by the time we pick in the 3rd.

With my list, I am only realistically hoping for 4 new starters for 2007 (RG, RB, FB, DL {which type depends on whether Robertson gets moved to end or stays inside}). It would be amazing if they could find new starters at all the positions I listed, but it is not likely.

I think my list is possible maybe minus the suitable eventual replacement for Kendall.

    draft
    1. d lineman
    2(A).RB
    2(B). d lineman
    3. CB
    4. RT
    other draft picks- BPA

    sign in FA
    right guard
    fullback

I think that can be done. It doesn't have to go in the order I suggested, of course. The scouts might determine Turner is better than all the backs in the draft. The Jets might want to draft a RT or RG in the 2nd or 3rd round. Who knows.

    - FA Running Back
    - Thomas from Baltimore to go opposite B.Thomas
    - FA Corner (Samuel would be great)

    - Draft a true NT
    - Draft another Safety to play with Rhodes, Coleman is good, but not good enough IMO
    - Draft a guard on the first day
    - Draft another TE for rub blocking purposes

I think this is a good one year plan, I would also look to the draft for another CB, another DE with some speed to relieve Thomas for a rest, he plays like every snap. Then just more O-Linemen, maybe we get lucky and get a solid guy onthe second day.

Well, what are the needs for next season? Let's take a look...

QB- with Pennington, Clemens, and Ramsey I think the Jets are ok to stand pat. Although Ramsey may be a cap casualty so maybe we need a 3rd stringer.

RB- I like having Washington as a third-down guy, back-up scatback type. But a workhorse is needed...Houston is nothing more than a back-up and the writing is on the wall for Barlow

FB- Askew and Hodgins...not bad I guess, could be upgraded

TE- Baker, Ryan, Dearth (LS)...I think we're ok here

OL- Clement, Moore, Mangold, Kendall, Brick, A. Jones...depth is needed

WR- Coles, Cotchery, McCariens, Smith, Dwight, Wright...need to improve at 3rd WR

DL- von Oelhoffen, Robertson, Ellis...this is a priority I think. von Oelhoffen has to be replaced with a better player, hopefully one that can get to the QB.

LB- Barton, Vilma, Hobson, Thomas, Chatham, Kassell, Schlegel...good enough I'd say

CB- Dyson, Barrett, Poteat, Miller, Coleman...definatley in need of an upgrade opposite Dyson, we need to get more consistency here

S- with Coleman and Rhodes I see no need for any changes. They would benefit even more though with better CB play. Washington + Smith are servicebale back-ups/special teamers

    P- Graham -- all set

    K- Nugent -- all set

So facing free agency and the draft I'd say the needs are as follows:

    1. Pass rusher
    2. RB
    3. CB
    4. WR
