Because that is the only negative for them to hang their hat on. Case in point, Josh Allen, no one gives two shits about his stats in his first two years, he has hit it out of the park since then. Conversely, do you think people give a crap about Russel Wilson’s past performance, while he has struggled mightily over the past two years. All it matter is forward progress. Hello Geno Smith.,

Actually I don't think he would be awesome in this offense. He might be awesome in an offense tailored to his strengths, but that's not LaFleur's offense. It would more likely mean that he struggled even more than Zach and the calls for benching/replacing him would be deafening.

That's not to say that he doesn't have a lot of talent and could one day be thought of as a top FQB, but IDT it would happen in this particular offensive scheme.

If Fields was our QB people would be besides themselves. Sanchez was the all time NFL leader in Fumbles per game after 4 seasons. He was only fumbling 10 times per year. Fields is almost double that. 11 Fumbles last year in 10 starts and 12 in 9 starts this year. He is on a historic pace for fumbles beyond anything anyone has ever seen. Could you imagine the venom and hate if he was our QB. We have no patience for play like that.

Zach is all good in my book. I was upset after the patsy loss but I'm over that now. Zach played good football against Buffalo and there's no way we win that game without his contributions. Zach still has growing to do but he's back on track.....

Why is anyone so anxious to declare he is, or claim he'll never be, a franchise quarterback? Can we not just wait and see if he can become an every week competent starter with a full repertoire of NFL plays? Opinions are what made all those guys in Vegas rich, have all you want.

Because pragmatism can make for a rather boring fan forum experience...

I'm not here to impress you. Go ahead, continue to drive for the drama if it makes you happy.

Complete agreement. I want to believe Zach is the guy, but he's gotta show more plan and simple. I've seen this act before, and I just want proof. Going back I really thought Pennington after 2002 was gonna be our guy for along time. It didn't happen but he was a very good player for us. I never believed in Sanchez like a fools gold thing but supported him as well, and he for a couple years wasn't horrible. Long list point is, I was on the Zach bandwagon because I'm a fan. I demand to see if he's actually the goods at this point. The QB play in this era is very cut and dry. We can all see the numbers and impact. You're either a difference maker or not very early if you're a franchise guy. People arguing with our record with Zach being 5-1 insinuating at all it's cause of him is my problem. We have a stout running game, especially when Breece played, to go along with a top notch defense. Zach outside of the Pats game has been fine, but I can't realistically trick myself into believing anymore, that if he doesn't take a huge leap in the next year or so we'll never contend for jack. Everything is fine at moment cause of our overall team play, and I emphasize that. Exceeded expectations, but Zach is still a huge question and people shouldn't hate at the fact that some or most feel that way. We shall see as the season prevails.

I know what you mean. I think people see a perceived window of opportunity for the team as a whole, and his development isn't fitting into that perceived window well enough. Whether that window exists is up for debate, but the Bills game was a really nice step forward for Zach and should be treated as such.

The coming out party of a QB doesn't necessarily need to be a 500 yard game. Maybe it's a solid and unspectacular game against a heavily-favored rival.

He still has a lot of growth to do. To me, he is on his way but he has not yet proven he can get there.

    Questions ion number of targets.

    I am just curious.

does anyone know the targets thrown to WRs on the last 3 games?

obviously GW and Conklin getting the most targets but just curious how much others have been targeted, party Moore. . He was visibly active in motion and end around s but don’t think he ever received the ball to run. Not a knock on ZW, or OC, just curious.

It appears as though the way to get the most out of ZW is to ask less of him.

I'm totally good with that as long as the Jets are winning. It's the same formula that worked really well for the Sanchez-managed Jets and there is no reason it won't work again.

Obviously the Sanchez Era did not end well but the thing to remember about this era is that expectations are much lower. If the Jets turn into an 11 win team that wins a playoff game this year that's all gravy. If they're just a good team next year still all gravy. We were 6-27 not too long ago.

Yeah, number of targets is tracked.

Elijah Moore has been targeted only 1 time in the last 3 weeks to answer your question.

    Targets last 3 weeks
    G Wilson 20
    Conklin 18
    Carter 10
    Mims 9
    Berrios 7
    Uzomah 6
    T Johnson 3
    J Smith 3
    Robinson 3
    Davis 1
    E Moore 1

Moore didn't play for two weeks though, right?

So it's 1 game 1 target, which is still bad, but nowhere near as bad as 3 games 1 target.

Yeah, exactly. That is what I was trying to say. That logic doesn't work. If Zach plays solid down the stretch and the Jets make the playoffs, that is all you can ask for. Then you hope and expect him to make another leap in Year 3. You move forward, not backward.
