I am not a fan of erik coleman and have seen alot of gibril wilson to know that he would def be an upgrade at SS. Having Wilson and Rhodes as our safeties would be a sick tandem and for the right price(2nd or 3rd rounder) i would definitely make a run at him. Any thoughts........?

The group of Coleman, Rhodes and Smith is pretty good and will only continue to get better. I think a corner like Asante Samuel as well as an improved pass rush should be the offseason defensive priorities.

you son of a b John. lol.

Gibril is a good safety and wasnt used to his strengths in the damn Tim Lewis defense and still had 102 tackles 3 FF's 2 FR's and 2 INT's on the season.

if the Giants dont resign him (God please let him) the only place i would actually want him to go would be the Jets.

Rhodes, Smith, and Coleman are fine. They are young and will continue to develop. We have other areas to address. Plus I don;t see the Jets giving up a draft pick for a safety.

wilson is actually horrible in pass coverage and not a big run stopper. actually he's a erik coleman clone. i guess he played alright tonight but that doesnt mean he's a good player. coleman is doing okay right now but the future at SS belongs to eric smith

you actually think he's bad in pass coverage? take it from a die-hrad Giants fan and a die-hard Gibril fan, he's not bad in pass coverage at all. they just dont use him to his strengths. Tim Lewis could possibly be one of the worst DC in the NFL and all he does is stupid zones and zone blitz's they whole game. and when the games tied and we need a stop, he'll blitz 3 people, send Kiwanuka into coverage and drop every else back so the QB has all day to throw.

with Gibril and Demps and Madison, their strengths are man coverage, where madison can play bump and run and Gibril and Demps can play a deep zone. that where they excell and we dont use that.

and idk how you say Gibril is bad vs the run. 102 tackles and is in on every play. let me tell you this, Gibril is twice the safety Roy Williams is. all of Roy's picks are thrown at him or deflected to him (last nights game) and he misses so many tackles.

wilson is the best coverage DB on the giants. i watch both the giants and jets every week and can honestly say i dont remember one time were wilson was burnt in coverage and over the past couple of weeks has actually made some big plays in pass coverage that have gone unoticed since the giants have been lossing so much lately. Wilson is also a huge yet sound hitter and is good at helping on the run. I personally think he is one of the top 10 safeties in the league if not top 5 and even being on a sub par defense still stood out and made plays for his team.

I like Gabril, but I don't think he's enough of an upgrade over Coleman to justify the cost of bringing Wilson in.

There are some other good safeties available Michael Lewis and Ken Hamlin all of which can hit like crazy.

Why would the Jets go after another safety? They have Rhodes and i'm pretty sure the coaching staff really likes Smith.

thats why this "trade" doesnt make any sense. we drafted a safety in the 3rd round and now you want us to give up a 2nd rounder for a guy like wilson who doesnt even know what "coverage" means? like i said, we dont need another version of coleman

You just want our 2nd rounder, because he'll probably be tendered pretty high.

I'm ok with Smith alongside Rhodes if he plays like he did while he was in. I don't need a Pro-Bowler at every position, and while Smith is limited in coverage, at least to me, he tackles well and seems alright in run support.

well according to the scouting reports eric smith is not the most athletic safety out there and a guy who cant cover. well thats not the guy i've seen out there this season. smith has pretty good instincts and great hands. he's also pretty athletic (see his 1st INT) plus he also blocked 1 or 2 punts i believe. he made another great play in coverage against ben watson today.

If Mangini and Tannenbaum put their dirty mitts anywhere near my man Gibril I swear to god I will hunt them down and drown the bastards in hot oil, and then I'll come for each and every one of you and make you pay for having dirty thoughts about him, blech, wearing Green and white. He's a Giant and christ dammit he's staying that way.
