What helped the 49ers facilitate the trade was their six extra third-round compensatory draft picks granted to them for losing Robert Saleh to the New York Jets, Mike McDaniel to the Miami Dolphins and Martin Mayhew to the Washington Commanders in recent offseasons.
Great trade for the 49ers I am happy Buffalo didn't get him, that's a big hit for them as he coulda taken them over the top
He also attended Stanford, so he is very familiar with the area. He was tremendously successful there (20 games rushing for more than 100 yards in his last two seasons), so he has plenty of good memories and good karma there, too. The only thing making it less than perfect is that it's not like he's going to a place with great quarterbacks either - Lance might very well be worse than either Sammy or Baker. I do think Jimmy G is a moderate upgrade, however, and of course the team as a whole is a massive upgrade.
I like cmac, but I would have never paid that compensation. Especially for Buffalo, where you want to keep the ball in josh Allen’s hands as much as possible. His $12 million price tag is worrisome enough and injuries as well, I wouldn’t have paid that type of price, but I understand the 49ers have like 6 3rd round comp picks coming to them or something
Maybe they will figure out a game plan that doesn't involve using him 50 times a game and give him and his body a chance to compete, christ, he is only 26yo at the end of the day and should have 4 solid more years left in him.
