So Lawson leads the league in pressure% meanwhile the Jets as a team rank 27th in pressure %?? And we somehow think Lawson isn’t doing his job? Let’s look at the other 7 guys in the rotation/ and this rotation in general…I know you don’t want to tire out these guys but get the best guys on the field. One of the best arguably maybe inactive since the start of the season.

Nania has an article that said NGS credits Lawson with 13 pressures while PFF only gives him 9. So there is some discrepancy in how well he is doing. The argument could be made that maybe the reason Lawson is doing so well and the same for Q despite Q having a badfoot and Lawson still coming back form injury is that they are getting less reps. Q seems to be playing at pro-bowl level despite the bad foot and having his best year. I don't know if that is a good argument but there may be something there and something we should consider.

    so couple points

    - yes pressures are good…as in they are better than getting stoned by the OL
    - no they are not nearly as good or impactful as sacks, and they aren’t game changers or drive stoppers
    - there must be discrepancies in how you count a pressure, because if what you say about QB ratings dropping 30 points is true, then we’re not getting nearly as many pressures as these tweets claim, because opposing QBs are doing pretty damn well against us, especially on third downs
    - where are all these poor ratings, and picks?

sorry I’m just not buying it…pressures are the excuses made when you have a DL that can’t get sacks…and we have plenty of guys that are just *that* close

if we were truly getting all these so-called pressures, our D wouldn’t be this bad

as to Lawson, yeah I was expecting g him to struggle coming back from an Achilles as he especially is a burst type player, and that’s hard to do with a blown Achilles…he may never get back to what he was

Here is an article that shows stats that QB ratings drop 32.7 points under pressure.

Interception rate goes up 68% when under pressure.

    great

so then why are QBs so successful against our D? Where are all our picks

I’m guessing we’re not getting the “pressures” that these tweets claim were getting?

7 QB hits yesterday. That definitely wears the QB down. I think he’s beginning to turn the corner in his comeback from such an injury. I was just a little impatient earlier this season.

Definitely some better play recently. He said in an interview on Jets 5th Quarter that he's not back to where was pre injury yet. But hopefully he's getting better and better as the year goes. If this is indeed the case with his injury recovery, he'll be harder to cut after this year

These 3 and JFM/Rankins/etc. have to be in on obvious pass-rushing situations. These stats are incredible.

Lawson sets a new Jet record with 7 QB hits in one game and is second in the NFL in QB hits. I can't wait until Lawson fully recovers from the Achilles injury and is back to a 100 percent.

Not to mention the strip sack which was a thing of beauty. Now that is a game changer even more so than a sack

Speaking of the ever ending debate between pressures versus sacks, it appears to me that in the referees world there are two types of roughing the passer as it relates to pressures or sacks, one if you are a senior citizen like Brady, were if you touch him is a penalty, and one if you are a Mobil QB were you can crush him into the ground and there is no call half the time.

I was very happy to see Huff's snap % go up this week to 22% (up from 14%).

I'm glad this CS finally realized what they have in Huff and are giving him more reps. Hopefully that % continues to grow even more as we progress through the season.

I thought Huff & Lawson were gonna kill that 3rd string qb in the 4th quarter...

Lawson was solid going against a familiar backup. Anyone remember Brandon Shel?
