I remember him saying to the tune of: You can get by with average squad on offense as long as you have a good QB; you have to have 11 good guys on defense. Yes - one player can elevate the entire squad, and that player is QB. Of course he is worth at least 12% of the entire cap, if not more. Say, the only recent team that won the SB with a journeyman QB is Baltimore Ravens, no? That Ravens team had a really deep roster, especially on defense. (Ray Lewis was such a force in the MLB position.) Anything short of that, you WILL need a QB that can generate offense.

The Eagles beat the Patriots with Nick Foles. Several teams won with QB's who were not top 10 types including the Giants twice, the Ravens with Flacco (after the Dilfer win in 2000), the Broncos with Peyton Manning having his collapse season before retirement and the Bucs with Brad Johnson. The point of my comment was that once you pay your QB your chances at a Super Bowl win go way down. This is primarily because the quality of your defense declines over the following years due to cap constraints.

I loved that NYJunc would only post between 9-5 Mon.-Fri. My theory was that his wife wouldn't let him on the internet at home.
My theory on Nyjunc remains that it was an AI run out of the UNC Engineering department. That would perfectly explain the Monday to Friday 9-5 schedule and it would also explain why the bot didn't start a lot of threads but replied interminably to others.
