I think a majority of us are of the same mindset. I'm optimistic for the same reasons. He's still an unknown quality mostly, but he has shown in small glimpses that he might be something special if he can work out a few things. In a weird way I might have mentioned it in another thread as well, about the season starting on Sunday as well which sounded a bit strange.

I've been here since April and I think you're a great poster. But some individuals especially on message boards will hate just to hate. I guess thats why I stopped posting on them for last decade or so. Jets fans wallow in their own self pity as probably most fan bases do. Only difference is we have the New York City element which magnifies it more then anything. I've had a good amount of friends who are from the Buffalo/West New York area, and outside of the last few years hadn't sniffed the playoffs for about 18 years. They couldn't get the QB situation fixed and was the butt of jokes for losing 4 Super Bowls, but somehow always remained upbeat. I was surprised how they could be so optimistic.

Wow, crazy amounts of crying in this thread. The Jets now have the second longest playoff drought in all of sports after the Mariners made the playoffs. Are there Jets boards beaming with optimism?

As soon as any sort of hobby ceases to be fun, it’s time to stop engaging in that hobby. Whether that’s watching football, playing kickball, cooking or collecting pogs.

Honestly it kind of boggles my mind with how “upset” some people get about the Jets, about discussing the Jets and all of the above. It’s just a sport guys, sheesh.

This is a new team with new young players. It takes time to build a winner. Almost everyone on this board wanted to draft Zack Wilson. Did they think he was plug and play? Anyone who claims to know something about football can't be afraid of the process. Unlike most posters I am not a football expert just a Jet fan. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

While this is undoubtedly true, and I think they do understand it, they should not give a shit what the fans want. They should do want they think is right. JD got a six year contract because that's what it was going to take, give or take a bit of security. That's the deal he signed up to. That's what he needs to deliver.

Cookie pogs? That sounds like some sort of perverted Japanese fetish.

All I have heard is it takes time ..sorry but feh to that

Look at our comparable bottom feeders ..Cleveland rose above doormat status fairly quickly and the Jags GM picked a Veteran Coach who has Trevor Lawrence stepping quickly up to the big leagues

My opinion : if you get drafted first round you are uber talented in football and should have an immediate impact on your Team cause you also have probably come from some semi pro program like Alabama Clemson Mich or Ohio State or
Notre Dame. Josh Allen was from Wyomming but First round material talent wise

You are welcome to disagree but it's just my take on things

Give his Agent credit for the 6 year deal

But if you fail on the HC hire and your franchise QB pick it may very well eclipse those 2 nice draft classes or trades you did

Yes ..waiting for the Special Delivery lol

Browns and Jaguars have had 3 winning seasons in the past 20 years, 1 in the past 15 years (browns last year, Jax 2017 then all losing records until 2007 for both). Such a quick rebound to dominance.

Jaguars and Giant new head coaches have been in three games each with their new teams, "Dabole" has coached three games ever, and you're dying to crown them. You've written off our GM, HC and QB in one season. You're a great Jets fan.

It's borderline difficult to be wrong as consistently as you are without trying. You have watched football for 50 plus years but know less than ten year olds.

The last time the Jets had consecutive seasons with double digit wins was 1985 and 1986. That's how sparse success has been.

Are you okay with the Jets being a lousy football team just because there may be a couple of teams that are lousier?
