Although things aren’t going super great on the Jets front, I have some pretty cool news. Since I started writing about the Jets for Gridiron Heroics, a few things have changed. The podcast I started for them (also called Gridiron Heroics) is now a 5 day per week show covering all football, and I’ve had popular YouTubers, podcasters, superfans, and writers from places like USA Today and The Athletic. I have regular segments with former a former pro player, a Dr. of Physical therapy, and a PFF employee among others. Last week I was named VP of the company, and I oversee NFL content and the multimedia side of things. The President is a long time old-head CFB journalist, and he focuses on the written content and the CFB content. I’m working on a podcast network that will cover every team and topic eventually. I also rebooted the Jets podcast with one of our Jets writers, DJ Bolton (with @GasedAndConfused blessing, as he was too busy with work) and it’s called The Gridiron Beat: Gotham Green Edition. It’s a ton of work because it’s a startup, but I couldn’t be happier. I often think about writing about football here over the last ten years and how crazy it is that I was actually able to turn it into a job… it still blows my mind. If anybody who writes here dreams of becoming a professional sports writer, it doesn’t matter where you start if you put in the work. Thanks again for this platform as a place to talk football, because I wouldn’t be where I am without it I guarantee you that!
Congrats! Make sure you're getting paid real money. I could tell you a thing or two about getting paid speculatively.
Wow Max Proud of you my friend. You have a special way of delivering football content be it on your Podcasts be it on your write ups. You will go the distance on this. I expect national media like ESPN, CBS Sports etc will spot you soon. Can I please be your manager Jerry Maguire style?
Awesome. So happy for you, Max. Don’t forget about us when you replace Boomer on the CBS pregame show.
Ha yeah I was going to make a bad joke there but let’s just say a lot of people would have to be unavailable before I get the call on that one. My goal now is just to work in football for 30 years and finish with enough to retire comfortably.
