Problem is he was a twitch player who ruptured his Achilles..hard to come back from that if you rely on initial burst

    he may never come back

Aside from accidentally kneeing Burrows in the head as he ran past did he actually do anything?

I see he led the team in tackles but I don't recall seeing anything that actually had any impact

Lawson had 0 sacks, but had 2 good chances to get a sack. On one attempt Burrow escaped Lawson, and on another he spiked the ball quickly seeing Lawson in his face.

Most likely he will not be at full health until the end of the season. Saleh said it this week when he said Lawson was still lacking one gear. But, despite that Lawson has graded out very well with a high win rate on pass rushes. But, he is not near the level he was before the injury.

Another overhyped work out warrior, people are acting like he was Reggie White Pryor to signing with the Jets, he had 7 or 8 sacks one season, far from getting excited about

Classic they are who we thought they were moment. Lawson is who he’s always been.

You can’t sign free agents and expect them to out perform their contract by 2x.

Such high hopes for him. I didn't expect him to be a world beater but I really hoped his presence would change things for Q and JFM but he's just a non factor.

Oh you must mean Carl Ghoulston? No? Carl Coples? Carl Wilkerson?

All are easily forgettable in Jet history.

According to NextGenStats, Lawson is generating pressure. 13 of his 63 pass rushing snaps have created QB pressure. He's always been a high pressure guy with low sack numbers, and yes, sacks are more important than pressure, but hear me out.

The three largest pieces on the Jets defensive line are Lawson, Quinnen Williams, and JFM. All three of these players generate pressures at a pretty high rate. The concept behind having those three is that if you "generate enough pressure, the pipes will burst". If you have three players on the DL at one time generating pressure, or even two of the three, you'll get sacks or turnovers because of the pressure.

This is all well and good in theory BUT

The HEAD COACH and DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR, ROTATE our BEST DAMN PLAYERS OFF THE FIELD for SCRUBS like Nathan Shepard and Solomon Thomas.

Pressure rate is good. TFL/Sacks/ and forced turnovers are better. The Jets D needs some turnover-causers.

Pressure is code for "hidden production", and we all know what that gets you.

Pressure is good if the QB is trying to throw down the field, say 20 or more yards. Eveln the fastest receivers will need more than 2 seconds to go 20 yards with a defender on them. Probably at least 3 ir more seconds. But if the throw happens in 2 ir less seconds, and goes between 5 to 15 yards, pressure doesnt help much. Much of the damage to the jets the last 2 years has been just that. So many shorter passes resulting in first downs or huge gains, for whatever reason. The Whitehead wiff for example. Can't stop a QB from throwing in 2 seconds without a definite sack by someone breaking free and stuffing the passer.

I really think the problems are more than the rush. Mistakes seem to be more of an issue.
