I know that Ja'Marr Chase is an explosive talent with great speed, but I've always been very high on Tee Higgins as well. Higgins also has big play potential. Not as dynamic as Chase, but a guy who you have to be concerned about. You also look at the comparable size matchup with Sauce being 6'3 to Higgins 6'4 frame. When you consider potential red zone opportunities the Bengals might have that might be the most ideal route to go as an individual matchup. I get the aspect of putting pressure on Burrow, but the Jets aren't a great passing rushing team compared to the Steelers and Cowboys so I honestly think the secondary is gonna have to take the lead on this one from start to finish. Bengals line is nowhere near as good as the Browns so I don't expect Mixon to slash us the way Chubb did either. Personally, and I might be alone but I'd prefer Sauce to matchup with Higgins just cause of their comparable size and athleticism.
This is like the 30th time this has come up in the past three weeks. We play a zone defense. Sauce does not follow receivers around. He plays a side of the field in a cover 3 or cover 3 cloud and plays in his zone. There are variations and it can provide different looks and cover 4 or cover 2 when it is called for. This is the same defensive scheme the Seahawks played with Richard Sherman and friends. Sauce plays the same concept and technique as Sherman. See below.
Zone coverage I'm aware of. I was speculating about which of the two receivers he would matchup with primarily in his zone. I didn't illustrate that so that's on me. I was just saying I hope it's Higgins overall, especially in the red zone.
I would assume Sauce will play almost exclusively LCB with Reed playing RCB. Reed has done much better throughout his career playing RCB and the plan has always been Sauce at LCB and Reed at right. I don't think there will be many games like week one where Sauce moves to play the TE. The Jets do not always play zone. They mostly play man on third down. 1st and 2nd down is where you should see them in zone most of the time.Saleh talked about that in pre-season. He said it is no secret that we play man on 3rd down as do most teams.
That's an interesting observation and you make a great point. The Bengals like to move Chase around from the few Bengals games that I've seen so it'll be interesting to see how they utilize him come Sunday. I agree with you about week one completely.
Chase moves to slot sometimes too so we will see MC get just as much love as Reed and Sauce...but like Vilma stated, for the most part it's gonna be Reed and Sauce on their respective sides. Kinda excited for this secondary to face Chase, Higgins and Boyd.
Here's the windup: From what I have seen Sauce is a very talented Rookie who will cover whoever he has to But he is still a rookie and they all make mistakes
Considering the corners each play a side it will be up to the bengals who sees who the most. I’d imagine they’ll move the receivers around until they find some success. Either way, it looks like a strength v strength matchup and should be fun to watch
Am I being punked or something? He responded to the very comment you are talking about, that would be a pretty good indication he realized that someone had already made the comment. Your name is very close to jetfan5180, any relation? Serious question, do you like pirates?
I wasn't being serious btw. I wanted to see how you would respond lol. Also, no I don't know who that is.
