Potentially this may be the best group of offensive playmakers we've had in many years. Wilson, Hall, Carter, Moore, Berrios. If the offensive line holds up we could have an interesting season.
While the OL as a unit is still a work in progress, JD deserves props for putting together this cast of playmakers …. The Jets are a markedly better team in paper. This season will be all about gaining experience and gelling ….
Just compare this group of playmakers to the group we had during the last year w/our former beloved HC Adam Gase.
I have shit on Joe D a lot for not shoring up the O line, and bringing in free agents that promptly get hurt and miss the rest of the season, but the 2022 draft class balled out today. The free agents also came though.
You left out Corey Davis who has had two good games so far. You also left out Mims who had a nice preseason. Not sure what to think of the tight ends as I was expecting more from them. It has been quite some time since we had so many weapons.
I personally miss the days of Jeff Cumberland, Jeremy Kerley, Chaz Schillens, Stephen Hill and Shonn Greene but to each their own I guess.
Davis caught 2 passes yesterday and one was when he was uncovered and it went for 66 yards. I'm not throwing shade but let's pump the brakes a hair on Davis.
Chaz Schillens almost had a career year in 2012 with the Jets…which is generally a bad sign when it’s also your last year in the league.
4 and he caught 50% of them. How many times was he open? Again, I'm not shitting on him but he really didn't have a great game other than the stat sheet. The bulk of his yards came on one play where no one covered him.
Davis and Mims are only WRs that can block. Otherwise, it’s pretty obvious you’re throwing the ball. That what makes guys like Michael Thomas and Davante Adams elite WRs and matchup nightmares. The constant hate on Davis is quite disrespectful to read. He had ZW throwing him the ball all last year.
Davis is what he is…a decent #2 type I think…too many drops though, and seems like they come on key plays too often…
Yeah I’m disappointed in Conklin especially as he looked good in camp this year…hope he turns it around… yes I get Davis only has one drop in the rain on a ball slightly behind him…not crucifying him for it, but he had plenty of drops last year as well I’m not saying bench him, but he needs to reduce the drops
Big time agree here on the TEs. Conklin has been brutal with the drops + fumbles. Super upsetting start of the season for that group. It's super nice to see MLF realize that his best players need to be on the field. Look at the discrepancy in 11 vs 12 from week 1 to week 2. On a separate note, it was so nice seeing players actually open when catching the ball. I don't remember many catches that were tough and contested. I think I remember seeing week 1 that the Jets had 3 WRs in the top 25 in the NFL in average separation with at least 3+ targets. I would be shocked if that wasn't the same yesterday. Quick Twitter search about GW :
He has brought it on himself with the number of drops he has had in big spots. He cleans that up and he will get more respect.
