Could we be seeing Zach back for week 3?

If we lose again, I would not be shocked

That is the kind of bullshit we have come to expect.

Watch Saleh rush him back to save his own job only to get him hurt.

I have to say, seeing Zach back at practice today was awesome. The knee looks good. Again, I hate how Saleh handled his potential for starting Week 1, but it is nice to see that he appears to truly be on schedule for a Week 4 return.

I am a fan of the entire Jets team and I love a lot of the new players, but losing your franchise QB just takes the fun out of the season. Especially when Flacco is your back-up.

Seeing Zach at practice today really did get me excited again for the rest of the 2022 season.

You typing that post was more movement that Flacco all game.

Really though this is great news. I was beginning to get worried Zach may not even be back for week 4. Now he practices light this week, maybe ramps up with subs next week, and then with 1s for week 4. Can't wait!

That's not quite true. There was that one completely unexpected scramble where Flacco made it almost to the marker, the commentators made a big deal about it.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one screaming at the TV "What the fuck? If you can do that, what the hell have you been doing all game?"

Of course throwing in the run is completely out of the question.

It is looking more and more like you're right. I was all in on Zach when we picked him, all of last year, and up until he played his first snaps without a red jersey on this year...BUT, an awful pick, and a non contact injury later, I am out. He has injury history in high school, college, and now both seasons as a pro and when he did play last year, he was the worst starting quarterback in the league.

So one throw in a preseason game and a non contact injury is what soured you on Zach Wilson?

Just when you think you've seen it all. Wow.

I think as soon as Zach is 100% healthy, he should start.

I'm not sure if him going through these positional drills means that but at the very least it's a step in the right direction.

Hopefully, this week is used to ease him back in and then next week he's cleared for full practice. That way, worst case, he's definitely back on the field for Week 4 with an outside shot at returning for Week 3.

I just hope they don't rush them back. Absolute worst case scenario for this team is the CS feels their seat getting hot after starting 0-2 so they decide to rush Zach back and he gets hurt again. This season has always been about knowing what Zach Wilson is. If he takes a step forward? Great, maybe we've got something. Does he look like the same QB as last year? Not so great, but now we can shift focus and be active in the QB market this offseason.

Last year they had him do 2 full weeks of practice before returning against Houston. Which seems to put him on schedule for Pittsburgh. My concern is he needs to be able to feel comfortable taking the 5 or 10 yard scramble runs. At the end of last year that became a big part of his game. Taking those easy yards not only helps extend drives but forces defenses to play more honest. I recall last year his 1st game back he did not look very comfortable under pressure. It took a few games for him to catch up to speed.Having these 1st gew games for MLF and the offense get some of the kinks out and hopefully for Fant to get healthy could help as well.

Having him practice for almost 3 weeks would hopefully have him feeling comfortable, both physically and mentally, before he steps on the field on Sunday.

It would be nice if they could put him through some drills where he's scrambling around or even tell him to break outside of the pocket while doing some team stuff just so he gets the feel for that again.

I think no matter what, there will be some rust to knock off when he returns, them's the breaks when you haven't had any live action since Week 1 of the preseason.

Agreed. I don't want to change his game too much. Sure, during preseason run out of bounds, but in regular season we need his ground game. And if he runs again and gets injured for 4+ weeks just because of that, that will need to factor into evaluation whether he is the right guy for this team.

Hell of a large body of work you use to make a decision on our future for a QB. We went from a three year growth and improvement plan to one preseason game on year two. A freaking non contact injury that happens to many all the time and a pick first time up. Good Lord. With that logic they should bench about three quarters of the QBs that played the first week of the season.

I get that this specific injury by itself wouldn't be concerning, but I think Jets-N-Terps is speaking more about how the injury is further evidence Zach is injury prone. It's hard to disagree with that unfortunately.

With Mekhi the injuries were a biomechanics+weight thing. Zach might have a similar biomechanics issue given all the injuries. He's in great shape so that helps but he needs to show he can stay on the field.

There is not enough data to conclude being injury prone yet. Mekhi was banged up first year, then completely out second and third. He is definitely in red. Zach's injuries I would say put him as a higher risk, maybe yellow if you use coloring, he is definitely not in green, but he is not in red yet. Let's see what happens after he is back. I think this is a fair representation of risk: https://www.draftsharks.com/fantasy/injury-history/zach-wilson/10753

He was hit hard twice in New England, at least one was a cheap shot, and injured his knee. Came back pretty quick and looked good. Now he had a non-contact injury and looks like he has bounced back pretty quickly again. Nothing close to give up on him.

Injury prone is an interesting term too. You brought up Becton. He is out for the year for a second straight season. You can't rely on a player like that. If Zach averages 13 starts a year and those starts are at a Top 10 QB level, would you sign up for that? I would. So it depends on a lot of factors. You would much rather have a tank like Josh Allen, but there is only one of those. Again, I get why people are worried for Zach's health, but it is too early to assume he will always get injured too.

Zach Wilson has had minor injury problems almost every season dating back to High School. Thinking that he is somehow going to become less injury prone in the NFL is just ignoring the facts.

The one season Wilson had no injury problems at all was the one we drafted him off of in 2020. That's just our bad luck making that pick off of the Covid season.
