Dude is writing checks he can't cash. You are what your record says you are. What I found especially painful about the Ravens game is that we almost looked competitive in the first half only to watch everything fall apart as the Ravens made half time adjustments while our coaches watched Rome burn to the ground.
Instead of Saleh conjuring up fantasies for the future and how he's coming back after the naysayers, why not just take the time to remind us what he's accomplished? Didn't he tell us last year that he was going to make sure the scenario was no longer "Same Old Jets"? Every single number is in the record books, "Coach" - we all can read. And remember - you don't get a receipt until you pay the price.
As I've not been watching football for a few years I had never seen Saleh on the sidelines before Sunday gone. About 10 mins in to the game I messaged my son asking what the deal was with him having no playsheets and rarely a headset on, but he was waving and twisting up a towel. My son messaged back "he delegates" My response "gives him time to print AGNB tee shirts?" Oh yeah and clipping coupons hahaha
The funny part to me is all the “angry” people getting angry over this. I couldn’t give a shit, win games and make these “angry” Jets fans look as stupid as they are. If not, he’ll go back to being a DC and win SBs and we’ll start over with a new coach that we love until the first loss.
We have people with zero prior experience at their jobs in every major position of consequence in our leadership, and it’s pretty clear by now none of them have any clue what they’re doing. Yeah this whole tirade just isn’t sitting well with me…it smacks of desperation and bitterness, but dude, YOU are the coach. If there is any bitterness, it’s on YOU. just shut the fuck up and win some games and then the fans won’t be calling your ass out. week 1 was EXACTLY the Same Old Jets. Penalties? Fumbles? Turnovers? Giving up big plays? Bad punting? Bad kicking? Bad OL play? How many fucking times are we going to keep hearing “the OL needs time to gel”? We’ve seen ALL this shit before! Many times. don’t come in here blasting on the fans who have no control over what happens on the field…go get your own shit in order…. as I sit with this now for a couple of days, this is going to go down as when he lost me as a coach. accountability. Look into it! This is the moment for me when I now say he needs to show serious improvement this year or I want him out (not that it matters what I want because I can’t control any of it!). But enough. He needs to show something this year or he needs to be replaced.
I've been a fan of this team since 1960. Seen the highs and lows from coach Sammy Baugh to Robert Saleh. Not getting too excited. I'm into it for the long run.
What a ridiculous thing for Saleh to say. The Jets PR staff really needs to sit down with this guy. Until the team get some Ws, "taking receipts" is just more mindless bravado like "all gas, no brake." Until the team gets some Ws, Saleh comes across as just another guy who talks a good game. As Jets fans, we've seen too many guys like that. Then again, maybe he sees himself as Santa Claus ("making a list, checking it twice, gonna find out who's naughty and nice").
His words come across a lot less polemic if you watch how he said it. Go to 11:48 for the question and Saleh's response.
"I know it's going to happen," Saleh said of a turnaround, "and we're all taking receipts on all the people who continually mock and say that we're not going to do anything. I'm taking receipts and I'm going to be more than happy to share them with all of you when all is said and done." I have no issues with what he said. He wasn't talking about the fans unless there are fans that continually mock and say the Jets aren't going to do anything. Well now that I think about it there are some of those around here, lol
Somewhere between the Zach Wilson injury and the Duane Brown injury it looks like Saleh's brain fizzled out. I don't remember him acting like this last year. I guess because expectations were so low and he and the front office played it as such. Now there is actual pressure and he is not handling it well. You don't talk about receipts until you are actually succeeding. If someone says the Ravens are going to kick your ass, then the Ravens kick your ass, you don't respond with "I'll show you how wrong you are........ in the future!"
