The WCO was designed to beat defenses that stacked the line of scrimmage. Almost 4 decades later that is not the typical defensive alignment. That makes the WCO kind of a tired remnant of the last era. Variations of the Spread are better suited to beat defenses featuring 5 DB's or 4 and a rooster. Probably the Erhardt-Perkins deserves another look at this point also. It's very effective to run the ball between the tackles and then take shots up the field when the defense puts 8 men in the box to stop that. It eats the clock and also creates quick strike opportunities when the defense breaks down.
I'll bump this with a... WTF was he thinking today????? Allllllllllll these weapons and THAT was how he went about it? Wilson gets sat down a maj of the game? Yet, You go pass happy w/Flacco? How?? 2 screens all day w/ the RB's we got??? His rookie season is over...He;'s now on the clock. His grade is an absolute F - today.
That was a terribly called game. One of the worst in recent memory. Predictable, and we didn't throw to anyone down field until after it was garbage time in the 3rd quarter. He started last year out the same way. Literally dink and dunk 75 percent of the time.
The O didn't look too bad. It just looked like they were off kilter...the whole game. They would have been much better with Zach today.
It’s tough to call plays when your 65 year old QB who wasn’t mobile when he was 22 is under siege all day. It wasn’t the greatest game plan in the world but I have a hard time being mad at LaFleur today. They showed him in the booth at the end of the game and I swear he mouthed I don’t know what the fuck to do.
I agree with this. Flacco legit looked like a statue back there…he looked even slower then last year.
Nah it was hideous, Joe Flacco is the playing personification of a burned out employee coming into work on a Monday
What sucks is he really grew on me last year. Today was back to the same boring, unimaginative shit he threw out there the first few weeks last year.
He’s beyond uninterested. You have to play Mike White last year. Let him throw 5 pick sixes. But at least he’ll be upset when he does it.
I had mentioned this before, but if he's getting told what to do then why tf did they hire him? IMO Fucco wasn't under siege all day though. Actually how many times did he hold on way too long? THAT was when he was under seige. The O-Line while far from pro-bowl was adequate when they needed to be...not saying I expect them to hold up all day but he had time and chose to pull it back down waaaaay to often. I swear It looks like he gives more fux about his comp% than trying to make a play.
Flacco was under siege the entire game and we have 2 young playmakers at running back, so let's throw it 59 fucking times.
That's what still has me baffled. The whole point of having Fucco start is that he's a vet....They made some BS excuse NOT to start MW so shortening the playbook isn't the issue...
Step one - start Mike White Step two - figure out how to use play fakes, tight ends, and running backs to protect our QB when our tackles are not up to the job. Step three - give Fant a ton of reps in practice. He was expecting to play right tackle and needs to ger all of the rust off.
