Not sure you can blame JD for this one. Unless GMs around the league can predict the future, if so then.

    Fire JD!!!

You are correct. But it doesn’t bode well with their case so is summarily ignored. To me that is very easy to believe.

Second guessing JD at its best. It is my humble opinion that any argument that begins with such bold assertion, “ everyone knew with 100% certainty that ( fill in the blank) …….was going to get injured is 100% correct because they always say it after it happened.

Hard not believe we have a small subset of haters from another team thinly disguised as faithful Jet fans here. I yet to read one positive comment about anything Jets, no matter what.

The ever-increasing cynic in me is tempted to predict Max Mitchell will look like a million bucks to start the game, inspire the Jets offense, get everybody excited, and then get his ankle/knee rolled up just before halftime and miss the next year and a half or so.

Yes, Edoga was picked higher and turned out to be shit. Max still has a chance though. He was the highest graded CFB tackle by PFF, granted this was in Sunbelt, so I wanted him to be development tackle this year with another good back-up like Moses. And JD did that - he got Duane Brown as Moses replacement as a sub, who while old, was durable and better player than Moses last year. I also would have preferred Moses, but can't really blame JD for getting a good player like Brown instead, when Moses wanted to start for a better team.

As far as declaring Moses a starter at RT over Becton, as much as I criticized Mekhi, it was too early to give up on him last year. Now it is a different story, but at the time it was just too early. I am not denying I would have liked someone better than CMDermott as another tackle, but we are now talking about 4th/5th tackle, and I just cannot blame JD too much for only getting a Brown, drafting one in 4th round, and keeping CMD. Some blame for not upgrading CMD yes, but saying that he should have anticipated BOTH Becton and Brown to be on IR and should have had 4 starting tackles on the roster is also a bit much. Also, let's see how good Max really is. If the guy truly has grown to be half decent, that's really all we can expect from 4th tackle.

Yes, very ballsy. Let's go ahead and pencil Calais Campbell in for 3 sacks.

except that there were A LOT of folks saying don’t rely on Becton because he’ll be hurt and miss significant time WAY BEFORE it actually happened. That is, based on his history of several nagging injuries that cost him a few games in year one, and then him missing all year for an injury that, rightly or wrongly, was commonly talked about as not season ending, and then not seeing him rehabbing like a madman at the facility all summer, there were plenty of people who were skeptical on his ability to stay on the field for 17 games. This was called out before the draft. This was called out when we didn’t make any serious effort to resign Moses who played decently well.

so this isn’t hindsight after it happened. This was foresight before it happened…

I hope Mitchell plays well and puts all this angst to bed, but I don’t think you can call people out for calling this after it happened because there were plenty of people calling it out before it happened…

I am actually a huge fan of JD…he’s the best GM we’ve had probably since Parcells or maybe Tannenbaum (who by the way fixed our OL in ONE offseason when he drafted Brick and Mangold and signed Woody and Faneca as free agents and poof…instant top 5 OL)

but the way JD has handled the Becton situation is not good in my view…to me it’s a huge criticism precisely because it was easy to see this one coming. But we’ll see…the other 4 starters should be solid if not above average so I hope our OL as a whole plays well enough…I just remember the days of Wayne Hunter playing right tackle and those were some dark days indeed…hope this OL plays better

    Jets injury report:
    Zach Wilson, QB - Out
    Duane Brown, OL - Out
    George Fant, OL - Questionable
    Conor McDermott, OL - Questionable
    DJ Reed, DB - Questionable
    Justin Hardee, DB - Questionable

We're a sneeze away from having no tackles.

The way the injuries have gone during this regime I wouldn't be shocked if he never plays a down for the Jets

Cimini's exact words from the article you linked: "The Jets are evaluating test results and soon will make a decision on whether to place Brown on IR, which would sideline him for a minimum of four games."

That is called reporting - how in hell is that "being a twat as usual"? Do you really want him to say Brown will just tape it up and be fine?
