Ah so this fantastic, foolproof, airtight only applies to Denzel Mims because... well I don't know why. Hopefully Denzel doesn't think he should play linebacker! Then the coaching staff would have to listen to him.

But by all means resort to slurs, definitely helps your reputation as the site's biggest troll.

Enough with the third stringer logic as an excuse. The catches yesterday were bonafide damned good with defenders strapped around him and the end zone catch a thing of beauty and hardly defendable no matter who would have been out there. He missed nothing thrown his way.

Everyone loves to bring up the one great game while ignoring two years of shit games. If you want to wear your Mims jersey and cheer that's fine, just don't be appalled when someone points out the reality.

    Wow.

I didn't say shit about the coaching staff listening to him by the way, again, that was your take. Obviously the very inexperienced coaching staff isn't going to take his feedback. They've buried him on the bench

That is your current reality. Everyone here knows the woes of last year and no one is making excuses about it. But it did not translate to this year, period. He did plenty to gain a slot. Also no one is saying that he should be a starter, but rather a contributor, and he is currently better than the rest of the remaining WRs after the top 4. I don’t wear his jersey, sorry, nor do I choose to live in the past to make a point.

The touchdown catch was nice... the way he pushed off the defender was even nicer... subtle enough not to draw a flag.

I've already said multiple times he deserves to be on the roster. I'd personally keep Jackson over him as the 6th but I totally understand keeping Mims because of his size and I guess potential. The point is that the team isn't doing wrong by him. He's gotten chances and blown them. He's had chances to prove it in practice and he's blown that too, which is backed up by the people that cover practice daily. The notion that the team is somehow at fault for his awful career so far is foolish. Maybe you're not implying that but some certainly are.

What it comes down to with Mims is this -

Is he better than Davis, GW, Moore, and Berrios? No, so why are we spending so much time debating the future of our 5th (at best) receiver?

He's also not the only big pass catcher we have now that we added Uzomah, Conklin, and Ruckert, so I don't even see a strong case for keeping Mims just because he's one of our few big WRs.

The "health concerns" he had are meaningless. Food poisoning lasts a day or two and COVID maybe a week unless he had an especially bad strain, which we have no reason to believe is the case. You don't not learn a playbook because you had to take a week off.

    As a fan.

I want Mims to succeed. Just like everyone else in this team. He was a fan favorite for the most part when he was drafted. He had shown flashes of the things that make up for an excellent WR In this league.

At the same time. You're right. He's likely not better than our top 4 guys on this roster, which means we finally have the luxury (hopefully) of having these type of conversations as fans.

It's a good and bad scenario.

Ultimately though. Just a good problem to have.

Are we really arguing over whether Mims is a 5th WR? Because he certainly isn't a 4th and up on this team.

Personally I want to see him stick because I hate wasted draft picks, especially 2nd rounders.

Agree on the BS excuses with food poisoning…never understood that BS … that’s not something that keeps you out and ruins your year…

Not that i am a big mlms fan, and he could be traded any second, but he did show up on Sunday. I don't believe in designating reveivers 1,2,3 etc. I know what people intend, but we just dont know about the jets yet. Wilson has yet to play a down. Davis did not have a great year. Moore flashed potential but missed games. Berrios is good but doesn't get much love. In fact the #1 go to guymight be conklin. Ilook forward to the first game. Flaco likes to heave the ball. Situations arise where mims could flash. He coiud also stink up the field. Like most everything with the team, the offense is a work in progress.

Wrong. We are arguing if Keyshawn got the same treatment Mims gets from the CS Keyshawn wouldn't have ever have become a good receiver either.

Keyshawn was the #1 overall pick and was nowhere near as bad as Mims was the first two years.

Moore and Berrios (and certainly Uzomah, Conklin and Ruckert) play different positions than Denzel Mims. If we were discussing Michael Carter II, you wouldn't argue that we have other guys to cover receivers and cite a bunch of linebackers or safeties. Its a stretch to even compare Carter to outside corners like Gardner & Hall. He is a slot cornerback, and he sees the field covering the slot.

Berrios is a slot reciever, as is Moore. Mims is an outside receiver and he might very well be better than Corey Davis, who is quite inconsistent out there.

Imagine thinking Elijah Moore is a slot receiver.

There is even data, from X Factor, that shows Moore was much more productive when playing outside vs. playing in the slot last year.
