With Jermaine Johnson coming along slowly (albeit still making some plays here and there sounds like), I wonder if Jacob Martin could start at edge when JFM is inside. Sounds like he's having a big camp. Definitely feels like riches of edge rushers!

Also noteworthy that Pinnock is starting over Ashtyn Davis with Joyner out. I'd guess Davis is squarely on the roster bubble

Is it just my optimistic homerism, or has JD gotten excellent value from his last two draft classes (assuming that ZW doesn't end up being a bust):
    • Round 1: No. 2 – Zach Wilson, QB, BYU
    • Round 1: No. 13 (from MIN) – Alijah Vera-Tucker, OL, USC
    • Round 2: No. 34 – Elijah Moore, WR, Ole Miss
    • Round 4: No. 107 – Michael Carter, RB, North Carolina
    • Round 5: No. 146 – Jamien Sherwood, S, Auburn
    • Round 5: No. 154 – Michael Carter II, S, Duke
    • Round 5: No. 175 (from KC) – Jason Pinnock, CB, Pittsburgh
    • Round 6: No. 186 – Hamsah Nasirildeen, S, Florida State
    • Round 6: No. 200 – Brandin Echols, CB, Kentucky
    • Round 6: No. 207 (from PIT through MIA and KC) – Jonathan Marshall, DT, Arkansas
It seems to me that at least 8 of the 2021 10 have proven to be viable NFL players, and to get solid starters (both Carters) in the 4th and 5th rounds and solid backups (Echols and Pinnock) in the 5th and 6th rounds deserves acknowledgment (particularly compared to pre-JD drafts).

Even more impressive for me is the 2022 class, as all the selections have displayed potential starting-caliber ability. This is not to say that all of them will surely be starters in a year or two, but that they display talent that may enable them to become starters.
    • Round 1, Pick No. 4: Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner, CB, Cincinnati
    • Round 1, Pick No. 10: Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State
    • Round 1, Pick No. 26: Jermaine Johnson II, EDGE, Florida State
    • Round 2, Pick No. 36: Breece Hall, RB, Iowa State
    • Round 3, Pick No. 101: Jeremy Ruckert, TE, Ohio State
    • Round 4, Pick No. 111: Max Mitchell, OT, Louisiana
    • Round 4, Pick No. 117: Michael Clemons, EDGE, Texas A&M
So at least the last two drafts by JD seem to be excellent, and I hope he conducts many more for the Jets. By the way, his free agent acquisitions (Conklin, Reed, Whitehead, etc.) are proving to be pretty good, too.

True, that's what I'm waiting for, too. On the other hand, I'm glad that it's JD doing the drafting and not me (who, for example, was hoping for a Teven Jenkins pick).

I like that one tweet above about the Jets defense having a very good day/camp. Isn't that what we always see out of training camp with the Jets? "The defense looks awesome... they're going to be formidable once the real games start" and then they end up looking like garbage.

Maybe, at some point, the beat writers will figure out that the Jets defense always looks good in camp because they're going up against the Jets offense. You could pick a random high school defense and put them out there and they'd probably look good.
