Even if the NFL decided to use that in determining anything you'd need to account for both offense and defense, not simply one facet of one of them especially when what i was responding to was nothing about point differential.

Jets X factor makes a very good point that replacing Becton will likely push the Jets into calling quicker plays. X Factor makes the argument that quicker plays are where Zach does well and offers this tweet in support.

Sorry I am little ahead of you. I went through panic mode, then blame mode and I am now in WTF do we do now mode which consists of a little panic, a little blame, a small amount of optimism and a bigger ok lets move on and fix what we can. But, I could be easily persuaded to go back to full blown panic mode.

I am pretty sure this tweet will only provoke rational, sane and/or positive responses.

Disagree. The OC's job is to figure out what his players do well and then emphasize that. Presumably MLF is aware of stats like this, and perhaps that explains why we have seen a high percentage of short and quick-out passes during training camp (and fewer bombs) compared to last year. If Zach excels on the 5-10 yard stuff, then let's gameplan around that.

Former low-level college football player who is "on the beat" and has a podcast on the TOJ (Turn on the Jets) network.

He's pretty insightful while being very realistic about the team.

in that list only one of those metrics is 100% subjective and its the accuracy figure. Success is based on result of the play, YPA is based on the distance the ball traveled, and EPA is based on the football situation the play occurred.

"Accuracy" in that context is solely based on the opinion of the compiler, whether he thought it was an accurate pass or not. Since we dont know who compiled it and what he based his opinion on, it is meaningless to me.

    --

I also think lumping subjective thoughts with statistical analysis like that and presenting them as "stats" themselves is a disservice to the reader and an insult to our intelligence.

    the tweet should read...

"On quick passes greater than 5 yards, Zach Wilson was middle of the pack in success rate and EPA/att, but our analysts' believe its not because they were inaccurate passes"
