I understand fatigue can cause any injury

2020. No combine, no visits, Adam Gase.

Yes in professional sports, fatigue is probably the single biggest contributor to injury actually. That's why they have to work out so much to stay durable.

That's why scientific devices that analyze fatigue indicators are in such high demand. The NFL is behind the curve a little on that actually. In other sports teams have devices and when a player reaches a threshold they sit them to avoid injury.

(Becton got tired and sat out a drill and had a pissy fit on twitter when Cimini reported it, so probably wouldn't have been possible anyway)

No thats simply not that case. The combine, where he ran 5.10, helped Becton's draft stock more than anything

    From the man himself...
“I mean, a man that size isn’t supposed to be as nimble as he is,” Douglas said. “When he ran that 5.1 40 at the combine, that was certainly eye-opening.”

Did fatigue cause his injury last year (other than Fant's fatigue that caused him to get manhandled into Becton's knee?) This is a yes or no question.

The other option (Wirfs) became All-Pro. Not a good look for Douglas who was supposedly the uber-talent evaluator for offensive linemen.

On draft night I was mistaken and thought his dad was Mekhi, in hindsight, his dad may have been the better pick...

Hah I did too. It really scared me. I was pretty anti Mechi on draft night then saw his dad and I was like oh no.

This absolutely sucks and that's 2 years out for the big man.

I know some people will feel vindicated about Becton missing another year but really this is the worst case scenario for the Jets and the Player.

Moving forward for next season onwards. Becton is now on the roster bubble and we need tackles.

Yes, sometimes bad things happen, but you CAN fracture bones - in this case the kneecap - because your surrounding muscles weren't conditioned properly. I don't want to rehash all the things that pointed out that there were good reasons for us to be worried about him coming back sound and being able to play all (or at least most) of the season, but I'm really dumbstruck that Douglas didn't have a ready Plan B. We will likely never know why, but I'd love to hear his reasoning on that.

I don't want to wish Becton any ill, but this was the best time for him to get hurt since it gives them some time to come up with the Plan B that should've been there all along.

Finally, I know it's just T.C., but I'm really getting pissed off hearing about how the "D" is getting to Zach, almost at will. I know we're supposed to be much improved, but this is a defense that was near the bottom of the league! What's going to happen when they face even decent defenses? If the OL continues to struggle, I may just check out until such time as they get their shit together.

He did have a Plan B... and he was meeting with him before Mekhi got hurt.... Duane Brown.
Could he have conjured up a better Plan B?

    Probably.

I didn't blame Douglas for Gase's coaching, I'm not blaming Gase for Douglas's drafting.

My hope was that he would have had a Plan B before FA and the draft, not after Becton got hurt again. And let's not split hairs about when JD brought Brown in - Becton wasn't in 100% shape even if the CS was praising him for working hard in camp, and he started wearing a brace even before the G&W scrimmage. The point is, waiting until now to sift through cast offs and over-the-hill players and to once again be patching together an OL is really making me question WTF Douglas is thinking.
