Duane Brown or even Jason Peters. Peters started 15 games last year for the Chicago Bears & as far as I know, - he has not yet retired. Played 853 snaps in 2021.
To think ---- I was already doing research on DTs & LBs for the first couple of picks in the 2023 NFL Draft --- but now have to clearly add OT to the position list. And probably prioritize that position ahead of the other 2.
Was Becton JD's first pick as GM? His first draft has been a slow motion trainwreck. How many of the Class of 2020 are still on the roster able to play? Pretty tough to completely bust your first draft. Not quite to the Idzik level of incompetence though but bad none the less. Lucky for us JD has improved over the several years since.
Well lets see.. There's the 2021 draft which even on paper clearly outshines the 2020 class. Same for the 2022 group.

Not sure who plays RT if they sign Duane Brown. Hopefully him so Fant can settle into his more natural position longer term rather than needing to keep shuffling. Brown is a one-year rental - would rather see him tried at RT. As the JetsXFactor article mentioned, Teven Jenkins is on the trade block. If JD liked him coming out of college, he'd be an intriguing target. The Bears also desperately need receiver help...
A year ago at this time, people were defending the 2020 draft class despite legitimate concerns about it. Well Zach is coming off a worse rookie season than Sam, so as much as we want to think he'll be a lot better this year...

The success of the draft class all depends on Becton. He becomes a long term good player its a good class if not it's bad. Hall, Mann, Guidry and Huff are nice pieces, good value and good contributors but it's all on Becton. At this point the odds of them picking up his 5th year option does not look likely.
I agree but I’m saying I think majority of us knew last year at this time that we were going to be able to write the 2020 draft class off as one of the worst in franchise history. And here we are…
We have been hearing all camp about positive contributions by players JD has brought in. I am concerned about Becton (in fact I've pretty much written him off) but JD has brought a lot of quality players in. We'll see when the games start for real, but claiming to be concerned over JD in general seems a big reach to me.
I'm just glad we can finally call this guy a bust without half the fan base getting their panties twisted....
It was realistically between Becton and Wirfs in 2020. Lesson: Always go for Big Ten in toss-up for OL. On average this is the winning strategy.
I read that the Jets wanted Willis but he was taken the pick before by the Browns. But the choice here was between high ceiling and high floor with the additional issue that wirf had question marks if he was a Guard or Tackle. I prefer the sure thing but can understand going for the homerun. I was surprised they did not take Icky this year. I think we heard a preview of the discussion before the draft when JD or was it Saleh who said they might have to have a fight between OL and defense with the 4pick. It looks like Saleh won.
