Side note - There is no way Jake isn't a Met next year. Fans will riot if he leaves, especially for ATL.

I agree that the Mets will offer more money to get him to stay, especially compared to leaving for Atlanta. Since there isn't a hint of bad feeling between the Mets and deGrom, you would think that that would be enough to keep him here, but players have been known to make seemingly inexplicable decisions in the past. It might actually turn out to be a smarter business decision to let him go if the price gets too high, but as you say, I just can't see Cohen allowing himself to be outbid that way.

Every time I talk to my former student who works at Point72, I tell her to keep making money for Stevie, so he can keep spending it on the Mets!

Good win over a bad team. Nimmo and Lindor with home runs. Walker now 4-0 in his last five starts; 2.53 ERA over his last 11 starts.

Edwin Diaz and his brother Alexis exchanged the lineup cards at home plate before the game today.

Alvarez 1 for 3 with a walk and an RBI in Syracuse in his AAA debut, and also threw out a runner at second.

    Tomorrow is Scherzer Day.

Six masterful innings from Scherzer - 2 hits given up, 11 Ks, on 79 pitches. Of course, the Mets do nothing with RISP, and it's 0-0.

Pathetic performance for Lugo, and the Mets lose to this crappy team despite Scherzer.

I don’t want to hear about deGrom or Max coming back being what this team needs.

The DH and catcher positions are black holes offensively. James McCANN cant even give you .200 hitting and JD Davis sucks. They could have 5 deGroms and Scherzers pitching and they wont win with this lineup. They could score a run against AAA pitching, the reds staff has a 5 ERA, FIVE.

Regular season doesn't matter for this team just like it doesn't matter for the Yankees or Dodgers. The Mets have a 97% chance of making the playoffs and will have the best 1-2-3 in all of baseball if and when Jake comes back healthy for the playoffs. They're obviously going to add a few pieces before the season ends so the lineup you see today isn't going to be the same come September and October when it truly matters.

Still 2.5 up on ATL for the division and we knew 6 weeks ago that the division would be determined for what you do against ATL.

Max got a taste of what DeGrom's had to deal with the past few years

Looked like it was going to be another pathetic job at the plate against this lousy team, but Marte with the big hit to tie the game in the ninth, and five runs in the tenth win it, including a big hit by Dom Smith to put the team ahead. Alonso with four hits. . Still a 2 1/2 game lead.

Definitely thought that Marte double was a foul ball but the Mets took advantage in extras.

Did they have to win that game? No.

Was it their best win? No.

Does it feel good for this team to win that game? Absolutely.

I was surprised that SNY didn't use the camera angle used for tag plays at third to help viewers decide (not that it would have mattered, since the play isn't reviewable). It was impossible to tell from the angle taken from the left field corner, since you couldn't tell where it was when the ball crossed the bag. It definitely bounced first in fair territory, and then in foul territory, but the crucial issue is where it was when it crossed the bag. I personally thought it was probably a fair ball, but it was impossible to tell for sure.

Every once in a while we need to sweep the shitty teams.

Alonso finally hits a home run. Looks like McCann has an oblique injury, and Marte went out with an injury also. And then Lugo throws it over Nido's head on what looked like missed signals, and the Mets are behind 2-1.
