We had some fun with the leading receivers, let's look at the top 15 rushers:

    1 Curtis Martin 10302
    2 Freeman McNeil 8074
    3 Emerson Boozer 5135
    4 Matt Snell 4285
    5 Johnny Hector 4280
    6 John Riggins 3880
    7 Thomas Jones 3833
    8 Bilal Powell 3675
    9 Bill Mathis 3589
    10 Adrian Murrell 3447
    11 Shonn Greene 3423
    12 Brad Baxter 2928
    13 Scott Dierking 2901
    14 Chris Ivory 2724
    15 Clark Gaines 2552

    Some Thoughts:

    1) This list IMHO all bet certifies how awesome Curtis Martin was. If there ever was a no-brainer Hall-Of-Famer, it was him. Martin amassed his total in eight seasons versus twelve seasons for second place McNeil.

    2) Never in a million years would I have bet that Johnny Hector was fifth on this list. He split most of his time with the #2 guy on this list.

    3) Thomas Jones was a very underrated player. In just three seasons as a Jet, he lands #7 on the list?!?!

Thomas Jones was a big part of our offense in the 48 games he played for us... 4,315 total yards.

He was durable and effective... but I always thought he left a lot of yards on the field because of his running style.

He seemed to fall forward after contact rather than stay upright and keep churning.

Don't get me wrong... I liked him a lot and was disappointed when he left.

I think he fell backwards most of the time. He had that patented half-turn and he'd just fall backwards into the tackler's outstretched arms.

Martin was fun to watch in 2004 when he won the rushing title.

Ivory and Leon Washington were (briefly) the most entertaining feature backs since C-Mart.

First football jersey I ever brought was a Curtis Martin lime green jersey. Loved it as I did the player. This is a fun list to look over. I agree that Thomas Jones was a valuable player for us for his short period of time. He had great numbers in yards and double digit touchdowns as a Jet. Considering how he started his career as a high draft pick and had underwhelming numbers for his first 5 years, he finished with over 10,000 yards and 71 career touchdowns. Not bad at all.

My only question is where is Blair Thomas on the list? LOL

I used to love watching Curtis Martin run the sweep when Mawae would break out from the snap to be a lead blocker on the TE side. Anthony Becht had the worst hands of any TE I ever saw, but Christ could he block like a tank.

It was like that play was a guaranteed 5 yard gain.

No kidding! I was a Johnny Hector fan in those days too. Never would have guessed that he got enough carries. Another thought: I expected Shonn Greene to have a better career than what he wound up with,

So true. Really thought we had something with him. A certain td against the Chargers was fun for sure.

Btw Curtis Martin remains my no.1 Jet. Loved watching him, love who he is. I'm proud he's a Jet.

I always appreciate Freeman McNeil, he could run passed you, juke you, and catch the rock... The same reason I liked Leon Washington so much.

But no doubt Curtis Martin was the most consistent at his job. Curt Mart knew what hole to hit and how to set it up. He wasnt flashy but he was going to give you the most out of the play that was called.

I think our new guys will crack the top, have a good feeling abt it.
