Still in disbelief. Today is going to be a looooooooooooooooooooooooong day. Normally the Mets can cheer me up later in the day, but I have to go watch that dogshit AppleTV broadcast. I can see a lot of beers in my near future. The only ounce of positivity is that the Rangers 2 road games they won were both must wins and they got the job done. They even trailed 2-0 vs Shittsburgh in that G6 game. Rangers are also a good team, there is no denying that, and beating them 4x in a row would be very impressive. EDIT - I hate getting on the refs, but holy fuck. Some of those calls last night were SO SOFT. And then on the flip side, some of those noncalls? COME ON
It’s the morning after, and as frustrated as fans are with Ryan Strome (and justifiably so), I still can’t believe this team was playing for overtime in a 1-1 game, in a series tied 2-2 with 5 minutes to go in the third period. It’s like they just quit on the ice. Maybe they finally were physically drained. Maybe they lacked a certain mental toughness that only comes with experience. But for the last 5 minutes, they played for overtime. Tampa did not.
I say this a lot because I honestly think it is true: incompetent officiating does more to damage the integrity of sports than PED’s.
Here is the fundamental problem with having six "A"s and no "C"s on a team. There is no one to step up and do this...
Sucks, we blew two leads in past 3 games. I agree they look tired, but tampa isn't lighting up the world here. Let's see if they have the will to bring it back home for game 7.
Note to self: Don't wear Tom Wilson jersey to MSG. Seriously though, that was terrible. Hope that Bolts fan is okay. It's been a good series so far. Clearly Game 5 could have gone either way. The Rangers just need to be more aggressive and shoot the puck more. I came in here to say not to give up, because this is the exact pattern of the 2018 Eastern Conference Finals between the Capitals and the Lightning. The Capitals won the first 2. The Lightning won the next 3. And then Braden Holtby shutout the Lightning in Game 6 and Game 7. You have a goalie capable of that, so you never know! Especially in this series, which has seemed pretty even, with a few momentum shifts.
You're probably being sarcastic, but it is always fun talking hockey with Rangers fans. Especially in the playoffs. They've had an interesting playoffs too. Seemed off in the Pens series, but found a way to win, then really turned it on mid-way through against the Canes, and now have gone toe to toe with the back to back Stanley Cup Champs.
Majority of us are so down is because it was in the grasp and we just didn't finish. Up 2-0 and 2-0 in G3 half way through the 2nd. It was there to take and finish off the champs. Very demoralizing.
Honest to God there was not a drop of sarcasm in my response. The truth is that I have been so down in the dumps about what has happened in this series, that it was genuinely nice to hear from someone from the outside looking in. I understand why you drew that conclusion, but my thanks was genuine.
Yeah, definitely understand that. And agreed. Very frustrating. Okay, good! Sometimes I worry when posting in team threads after a loss. Fans are normally not in a good mood. I agree with you, it is nice to hear another perspective, especially with playoff hockey. When it is your own team, it can be hard to see things clearly.
