The Jets are probably the most notoriously slow starting team in the league over the last 15 years. How long did it take them just last season to get a score in the 1st quarter? Even back in the AFC championship years, the Jets offense would routinely take the 1st quarter to as much 1/3 of the game off. Getting the Jets offense to score early has proven to be as tough as pulling teeth. Even on a season basis, the Jets offense NEVER plays their best ball unless their fate has already been decided. The Jets played their best ball long after they had been eliminated from playoff contention and just about all of their good talent was already on season ending IR. Why is that? WHY does it take so long for this team to get their shit in gear? Even more important, WTF does Lafleur and Saleh plan to do about it?
In the second half of 2019, the Jets consistently blasted out of the gate with scores on their opening drive. And... that was it for the day's offense.
Why is that? The Jets have always had a shitty offense. WHY does it take so long for this team to get their shit in gear? Shitty offenses do that WTF does Lafleur and Saleh plan to do about it? Score more points Questions not included: WTF does JD plan to do about it? Draft a QB, 2 WR, 2 RBs, and a TE that the CS thinks will help elevate this offense What’s stopping us from scoring more points? Time. It is currently the off-season. We have a large amount of talented but inexperienced players on the team. Time will help those players gain experience. We need time, and time is on our side.
2021 I would chalk it up to inexperience & lack of consistency with players partially due to injuries . That's why they seem to get better later in the season. Hopefully they can build on how they played the latter part of the year. It wasn't great, but it was showing signs of improvement. As for 2021 Gase had the team score on the first drive in 8 straight games, then they fizzled out after the first drive. His scripted plays seem to work, but that's about it. Typically the Jets are slow starters (past decade ) & have to play from behind, aside from 2015. Let's hope they can set a new president & start strong & keep it up for 60min.
I'm tired of excuses either side of the ball. Its time to start winning. They put good pieces in place this off season, now just do it. Its exhausting with this team.
The past is the past. Nothing really matters but this 2022 team. 2021 they started slow because they were so young and started a rookie QB. This year that should change, although the schedule is difficult too.
What's worse is given this schedule I find it damn near impossible that the Jets can start faster. You know it would be nice to have a few bunny opponents as a confidence builder. Some games where 1) they're are able to build chemistry, 2) they're aware they're catching fire, 3) the coaching catches up with the rest of the league. That would be the ideal scenario for the Jets to start under. Instead, we face a murderers row of playoff teams through the first 9 weeks and that's going to seriously cripple any designs this team may have on having a fast start.....
Yup. Gase did a good job of getting the team ready to run his 'scripted' 10 plays. But after that, when any play, any time could be sent in, the team looked like a clown car.
Joe Douglas has added more talent in the last 2 drafts than any other team: Zack Wilson. Best QB to ever play the game (Chris 'best QB expert ever' Simms) Alijah Vera Mother-Tucker. Best guard in the nation (everyone) Elijah Moore. Fantastic WR. Best rout runner in the draft Ahmad 'hot sauce' Gardner. Generational DB (think Sherman) Garrett Wilson. Another great hands, great routs, great speed WR. Jermaine Johnson. Edge (finally!!!!!) Breece Hall That's an absolute TON of raw talent, and just in the 1st 2 rounds, and all for US!!! JD has definitely done his part. Now, it's on the coaching staff and the players themselves. No reason at all they can't become dominant.
