The reports suggest that Carl Lawson has not only resumed running, but also is doing individual workouts with his trainers. Saleh said, "The guy is an animal with rehab." What are your hopes and expectations for Carl as 2022 comes closer and closer? I am still hopeful that he can free up Quinnen Williams to give him more one on one opportunities on the inside.
I hope he can play the entire season but I'd settle for half. Keeping the bar set very low as to avoid disappointment.
My expectation is that he find a way to keep himself healthy for an entire season. He doesn't help anyone if he's out of the lineup.
My hope is he delivers what he promised last TC and I hope for him, as well as us, that the lad can stay healthy for the season. I know he hasn't done anything as a Jet but his attitude to everything is exactly what you want from a player, I am crossing all my fingers for him.
All the proper answers I could provide has already been provided. I feel like I should start a "Prayer Thread" for health of our key players. But injury angle aside, if he stays healthy and with JJ, we will have a formidable pass rush. With a lockdown Corner like Sauce, we might have a chance to be in the upper half of the defensive rankings.
IF Lawson can return close to what he was before the Achilles, and IF he can stay on the field, we should have a much better pass rush between him, JJ, and then Clemons and Martin (the free agent from Houston) can hopefully come in a rotation with Huff for some decent depth….but hopefully a starting DL with Q, Lawson and JJ should be able to rush the passer much better than what we’ve had…kick JFM inside on third downs with Q, Lawson and JJ should be fun to watch. we’ll see…
Well yeah..let’s see him play a few back to back games first and then be there in December if we get lucky
It's like another excellent draft pick we get play on the field, but he's got NFL experience. I think Lawson will be fine and will be a difference maker.
I, like many on this board, have my expectations set low with Lawson on the injury front. I do think the current depth on the dline, as well as the new approach to not overworking guys in camp, will help the cause. IT would better serve the team to have him play less, but more meaningful snaps. Even if you made him a more overpaid pass rush specialist on important downs--it would give us more wins than grinding him down and losing him for multiple games.
The guy needs to stay out of the gym a day or two a week. His muscles are too big for his knee ligaments to handle.
Hard for a guy who is most likely a product of PEDs to stay out of the gym. There are guys who stay big after they play and guys that shrink down to the size they are meant to be like Faneca and Joe Thomas and Matt Birk. I'm guessing that a year or two after he retires, ol' Carl will be running marathons.
I hope Saleh eases him in, like 20% of the snaps, then 25%, etc. If by chance we luck into the last wildcard spot, having Lawon healthy along with Q (and our new JJ) would be fantastic.
