Every team has their Alpha Dogs where they define the tone of the team.

For Steelers it was Polamalu back in the day. For Giants it was Lawrance Taylor and Strahan. For Cheaters it was Brady. For Ravens it was Ray Lewis and Suggs and Who do you see as the potential Alpha Dogs for the Jets in the coming years?

I think several of the Jets draft picks are good candidates….Johnson, Clemons, Sauce….these guys are gonna add to the talent and carry the attitude. Let’s not forget Tomlinson, possibly Becton.

My vote is on either Clemons or Sauce.

They got the swagger for sure

The alpha is definitely CJ on defense. Offense is to be determined. Rooks gotta earn their stripes.

Carl Lawson has been an underdog his entire career and plays a position highly valued by the CS and is one of the oldest players on the team. He’s going to set the tone for this D.

I disagree. Alpha dogs are born not made. We'll see who rises to the top of the heap. Mosely is there already. I wouldn't be surprised if Sauce, JJ, and Clemons join him - they all seem to have that "edge" that has been in short supply on this teams for years.

They need to find at least one Alpha on the offense. The closest thing they have to that right now is Berrios. Ideally Zach steps up into that role, but we'll see. If Becton actually returns and plays up to his potential, he could be another one if he channels his attitude away from social media and onto the field.

Yeah… a top 5 pick who’s yet to reach his “potential” 3 yrs later is going to magically transform into an “alpha dog”…. Alpha dogs always bless themselves after they sneeze.

I think Q has to have a breakout year in order to be given that title. He did make some strong statements last season, but his play is not consistent enough to backup those words.

I'm going w/ Uzomah on offense. That guy LOVES football and is a warrior. I really hope it's contagious. There has been a lot made of the upgrades at WR and RB (rightfully so) but the TE room has also made a quantum leap from last year and I'm excited to see what these guys are capable of. Wilson and Hall are fantastic additions but they're still rookies who need to find their way (which they eventually will). In the interim, a guy like Uzomah could be a go-to option for Wilson early in the year.

    Fantastic thread idea.

Without looking at any prior responses:

    CJ
    Saleh
    LaFleur
    Lawson?

    Zach???

Berrios (only if playing a lot)
Elijah Rilley (only if playing a lot)

    AVT?
    Elijah Moore?
    Whitehead?

If Quinnen finds his way into the top group, we're going to be happy.

You are spot on. But with two no shit edges to start the season, good luck with double teaming him on every play.

OFFENSE- Laken Tomlinson/Becton- either one of these guys gotta be the nasty boys, throw defenders in the dirt.
Zach Wilson- gotta let it be known the offense will take that step and be a force, I feel he has to show command and execute the gameplan way better and make big plays.

DEFENSE- Whitehead- he comes from an aggressive defense led by Bowles, be the young leader who flies around and cause havoc in the middle of the field

Maine- Maybe it’s his demeanor in interviews but he just seems like it’s gonna be all business and he’s going to show in his play that he’s going to be a big time force as a pass rusher and good against the run.

Great thread, but rather than purely trying to forecast the alpha dogs I' cant wait to see key players that I expect will provide the biggest impact to the Jets resurgence in 2022. They are:
    1- Offense: Z. Wilson, Moore, Uzomah/Conklins, Hall
    2- Defense: Q, Lawson, Sauce, Clements/JJ
Much improved on paper, but the proof of the pudding is yet to come. Many others could be key contributors, but that is my short list of top expectations. Cant wait to see this team in action.
