The first of the Jets’ three first-round picks has signed his rookie contract. The Jets announced that cornerback Sauce Gardner agreed to his deal on Saturday afternoon. It’s a four-year deal with a team option for a fifth season for the fourth overall pick of this year’s draft. I like it...no BS holdouts, just put the pen to paper
No reason why the other 6 don’t fall right in line either. Only qbs are pains in the ass with this stuff
He said he was going to study Revis, obviously he didn't study the Mevis side of him or he would have held out before signing his contract.
I'd be happy to include a clause that says if he's as good as Revis, he can pick one year to hold out.
I feel like Sauce will be the fan favorite with his play and bravado. Can’t wait for him to shut down Tyreek Hill and Stefan Diggs.
Now the real question fellas is did he actually sign the contract as "Sauce" in his signature? now that would be awesome. Great that we have our potential corner stone guy locked up as soon as possible. Cheers to future pro bowls and an all pro selections in the next few years. I'll be first in line to pickup his signature barbeque and hot sauce line in the local area as well.
That's a given. Rookie will have a year to adjust to NFL speed. Year 2, Sauce will make every AFC East top receiver regret their lives. We got an Alpha Dog with the 4th pick. I am loving it. Where is @DefenseWinsChampionships guy to pump up our rookies. Lol
IF Sauce is the player his stats reflect he should be pretty impactful this season. He was rated higher than Surtain who only allowed 3 TDs vs 4 Ints on 96 targets in Denver. I'd expect something similar, and think Sauce will go a long way towards improving our turnover ratio.
Not necessarily. He should do pretty well in a Robert Saleh defense as a rookie. If the Jets play mostly zone like last year, he should be fine. They can keep adding 1 on 1's and man to man coverage into the playbook the more comfortable he gets. I expect him to have a strong rookie season. No doubt he will be even better Year 2, but just saying he can be a difference maker as a rookie. As for Hill and Diggs, probably best to double cover them for awhile still!
