Douglas was taking into account what Gase wanted - as a GM should do. That doesn't absolve DOuglas completely, but it puts that draft in context IMO.

This is a tremendous pick. Top rated running back with game changing 4.39 speed doesn't come around. Zach Wilson you know loves this pick, and Hall and Carter 1-2 punch is a perfect combination. I love that our primary offense talent is super young and can grow together. Hell, Corey Davis is the old man of the group and he's only 27 lol. JETS BABY

What's really clear - or should be - is that Douglas has a blueprint and a plan to execute it, and is being aggressive in getting the players that fit it. What a refreshing change from "Well he was the BPA" without any regard to how that player might fit the scheme and within the current talent on the team.

Hall’s a *potentially* great talent as long as he learns to always run with his shoulders down. He’s a tall kid with the weight to match but he’s not like some of the other big tall guys where he’s big enough to run through tackles running upright.

I’ve been calling for a bell cow in the second round for a while now although I do think the Jets staff has overvalued the entire current offensive line quite a bit. You’re forcing two players into position changes with virtually zero depth. Not sure who they should’ve taken but I was kind of eyeing one of the second rounders for a lineman.

JD strikes again! By far one of the best drafts we have had on paper in a long long time can’t wait to see what position he tackles with the next pick

He's not a Chris Ivory type but, from looking at his tape he can certainly break a tackle especially after he gains momentum. He will get bigger as time goes by. Not sure if he'll ever be a Derrick Henry, but he'll be big enough to move the chains or play smashmouth if the situation calls for it.

We aren’t including Gardner in the skill position discussion?

I’m sorry did Gase want to draft bad players? Because that’s what happened.
Did he want ineffective FAs? Or to trade away any bit of talent in place?

The only context I’m seeing is excuse making in order to absolve JD of any accountability for past failures.
Credit him for this draft, Blame him for the past roster failures.
Be consistent, otherwise we would need to credit Saleh instead of JD for this great draft.

The draft, FA, contract renewals, and the final 53 have always been 100% JDs responsibility. No one else’s.

JD has been picking BPA all draft.
    Sauce was the perfect example.
That’s how good teams draft. Is what Balt has been doing forever.

    BPA always factors scheme fit.
You aren’t gonna draft a 3 tech if your defense doesn’t use one as example.

I agree on being aggressive for a change.
Finally a sense of urgency as his time is running out.

Baltimore is winning this draft again. Just figured I’d mention while you brought them up. They could have two All Pro’s in their first round pair. Watch them take Malik if he falls to 76 and really shake it up.

Was hoping to get a stud linebacker to bolster our defense... but I really like this pick.
Good burst and good hands. Perfect player to get out in space.

Zach has no excuses if our offense stays healthy.

    100% agree
Hamilton and Linderbaum will be pro bowlers imo.
Ojabu in the 2nd was a nice pick also.
Every draft I feel they get great value just taking best players available that fall to them, or moving when the value presents itself.
