The final tally of the Adams trade is in.

Jamal Adams for 80% of AVT and Garret Wilson.

A bit premature to declare this, but I certainly hope it turns out to be true.

That was not the draft fault...but the way in which he was utilized.

Getting Fabini in rd 4, Fergeson in rd7, and Coles in rd 3 absolves all sins when he also picked Randy Thomas, Shaun Ellis, John Abraham AND Chad Pennington.

Between Parcells and Martin we gave tons of draft capital to the Patriots but still got all of those quality players in the draft.
    What more were you expecting?

The bold is the real difference in 2000. Look at what we've spent on 1st round QBs since. In 2000 we got both edges and a starting QB in round 1.

Thanks!!! This is terrific stuff Poe

Today on Sirius NFL radio Coach C Weiss said the Giants hit a Homer in Rnd 1 but the JETS made a Grand Slam!!!

On Mad Dog Sports Radio a poll next day showed 56% of America voted the NY Jets won Round 1 of Draft

But can ya help me out here? The drop from the 10 selection to # 26 is like 15 spots ..and no one took JJ?? Why???

Incredible luck ..JD must have Mad e 30 phone calls those 15 rounds getting us a a spot back in first

Douglas gets an award (at least for this maneuver) ..:)

    Hits OL early in rebuild.

Not afraid to swing on QB.

Primarily drafts premium positions in Rd 1 (5/6).

    Drafts WR early frequently.

Doesn’t hand out crazy free agent contracts.

    Gets excellent trade value.

    Yeah, I like this one.

Positional need. It's the same reason (x10) that I was against an Edge at #4. When you looked at the board, it was pretty clear, barring a trade, that the 4th Edge was going to be available at #10. I never looked past 10, but apparently the 4th Edge was on the board at #26 & the 5th went at #30. The first round was dominated by WRs, OLs & DBs. I'd be more concerned by the drop if other Edges were going ahead of him.

Can just tell these 3 are built differently. I get the feeling that JJ is going to be a pick for the ages. He carries himself like he can be a franchise captain one day.

I bet Zach is going to love leaning on these dudes

I have to go with Tannenbaum. Until a JD team get us to one or two AFC Championship games, you have to vote for results not just draft potential.

I watched the draft with my 26 year old son and my 20 year old nephew. That was them to a T.

The players you list were very good players for us, but Parcells as GM whiffed a lot. Two of those drafts he had 11 or 12 picks, and you've listed the best players he picked over multiple, high pick total drafts, not just one or two. One of those drafts was Idzik quality. He had 4 first round picks in 2000. Becht should not have been one of them. Parcells did take some gems in later rounds. He did well with linemen. The bar is very low for Jets GM's if Bill is #2. Did he take Alex Van Dyck in round 2? I don't recall if it was his draft. I'd at least put Tanny above him. My opinion.

I never said Bill was # 1 at drafting.

Parcells minus several big picks gifted to the Patriots still managed to draft many of our best players in four short years.

When you couple his good to very good overall draft record with his unparalleled free agent signings (including two hall of famers and Vinny) he is second only to the man that built the sack exchange.

    Weeb # 1...built a Super Bowl winner
Parcels # 2 developed a foundation for a 12 year period that could be considered the Golden Age of Jet Football

    JD has to win
